20110145816MANAGING REMOTE DEPLOYMENT OF A VIRTUAL MACHINE IN A NETWORK ENVIRONMENT - A method for managing remote deployment of a virtual machine (VM) in a network environment is provided. A VM image stored in a second storage medium is copied to a first storage medium. The first storage medium is located in close proximity to a first computing system, and the second storage medium is located remotely from the first computing system and in close proximity to a second computing system. As the VM image is being copied, a first VM is deployed on the first computing system from a partial copy of the VM image stored in the first storage medium, and a second VM is deployed on the second computing system from the VM image stored in the second storage medium. Service requests submitted to the first computing system are managed either locally by the first VM or remotely by the second VM based on type of service requested.06-16-2011
20110264805POLICY-DRIVEN CAPACITY MANAGEMENT IN RESOURCE PROVISIONING ENVIRONMENTS - Systems and methods for policy-driven capacity management in a resource provisioning environment, the method comprising storing, in an operational database one or more virtual resource sets (VRSs) and elasticity ranges for components to be deployed in a resource provisioning environment, and probabilistic guarantees on the elasticity ranges defined in a service manifest provided by a service subscriber; collecting historical data about capacity usage in the resource provisioning environment and failure statistics from the operational database, in addition to prior service commitments due to previously contracted service level agreements (SLAs) stored in a SLA repository; calculating equivalent capacity for the resource provisioning environment based on a defined residual benefit goal, and other business goals instrumented by way of a policy engine; and placing requested virtual resources on physical resources, in response to determining that sufficient physical capacity is available to host the calculated equivalent capacity.10-27-2011
20120023208MANAGING COMMUNICATION BETWEEN NODES IN A VIRTUAL NETWORK - A method for managing communication between nodes in a virtual network is provided. A first computing system utilizes first information to forward first data to the second computing system in a physical network. If the first information is incorrect, the second computing system forwards an unlearning request to the first computing system, and the first computing system updates or deletes the first information. If the first information is not available, the first computing system forwards the first data to a group of computing systems in the physical network by way of an unknown network service. Upon receiving the first data, the second computing system or a third computing system in the physical network forwards a learning request to the first computing system, and the first computing system utilizes the learning request to generate the first information.01-26-2012

20090012991SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING INFORMATION TAGGING IN A NETWORKED SYSTEM - A computer-implemented system and method for providing information tagging in a networked system is disclosed. The apparatus in an example embodiment includes a tag engine configured to process a database of categorized product listings; to receive a user-provided tag associated with at least one of the product listings; to retain the user-provided tag; and to serve the user-provided tag to a user viewing at least one of the product listings.01-08-2009
20100169353SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR UNIT OF MEASUREMENT CONVERSION AND SEARCH QUERY EXPANSION - A system and methods for unit of measurement conversion and search query expansion are described. The search query expansion may include identifying an initial unit of measurement associated with a property and an initial numeric value for the initial unit of measurement within a search query, automatically forming an expanded search query by expanding the search query to include at least one related unit of measurement associated with the property, and sending the expanded search query to a search engine to search a database. Other embodiments are described and claimed.07-01-2010
20110258202CONCEPT EXTRACTION USING TITLE AND EMPHASIZED TEXT - A concept extraction machine accesses textual data of a document. The document comprises text and a title, and the textual data comprises the title and the text of the document. The concept extraction machine identifies a portion of the text as a text token. The concept extraction machine identifies the text token based on the portion of the text appearing in the emphasized text and in the title. The concept extraction machine further calculates a relevance value of the text token based on the textual data. The relevance value represents a probability that the text token is relevant to a concept expressed in the document. Based on the relevance value, the concept extraction machine stores the text token as concept metadata of the document. The concept extraction machine indexes the concept metadata and searches the concept metadata to identify the document in response to a search request.10-20-2011

20110029585AUTOMATIC AND DYNAMIC PROVISIONING OF DATABASES - Approaches described herein may be used for provisioning of databases that requires a bulk transfer of data within a distributed computing environment, such as a grid. The approaches do not require the manual intervention of a DBA to, for example, transfer a tablespace between the file systems of operating systems. Instead, the tablespaces may be provisioned automatically and dynamically by a grid computing system whenever it determines the need to dynamically provision a database. In addition, as copies of tablespaces are provisioned, synchronization mechanisms can also be automatically provisioned to keep the tablespaces and their copies in sync.02-03-2011
