20150258501 | COMPOSITE NANOFIBER MEMBRANE FOR ADSORBING LITHIUM, METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME AND APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR RECOVERING LITHIUM USING THE SAME - Disclosed are a composite nanofiber membrane for the adsorption of lithium, a method for preparing the same, and a lithium recovery apparatus and method using the same. The composite nanofiber membrane for the adsorption of lithium is immobilized with manganese oxide selectively adsorptive of lithium. The composite nanofiber membrane for lithium adsorption exhibits high selectivity for lithium ions and allows for the rapid and easy diffusion of lithium ions through interstitial spaces of the adsorbent. Particularly, the lithium recovery apparatus using the composite nanofiber membrane for lithium adsorption is able to effectively adsorb lithium ions dissolved in seawater in a selective manner within a short period of time, thus reducing the time taken for the adsorption process. | 09-17-2015 |

20090311370 | Highly water-soluble agave inulin, agave inulin-containing product, agave inulin-origin product, by-product and method for producing the same - Inulin, which is contained at a high concentration in agave plants growing in arid areas, has been utilized hitherto exclusively in producing alcoholic drinks as tequila. It is intended to produce highly water-soluble inulin having a high added value from these plants. It is also intended to produce an agave syrup, tequila, an alcoholic drink or highly water-soluble inulin from the squeezed residue. Agave plant bulbs (several tens kg) having been employed in producing tequila called pina are cut into small pieces and enzymes therein are inactivated and the texture is softened either at room temperature or under heating. Next, the pieces are squeezed to give a liquid extract which is then refined by using an adsorbent resin. The refined product is employed either as such as a concentrate or after drying to give a powder. | 12-17-2009 |

20110075458 | AC-DC Switching Power Converters With Frequency Variation in Response to Load Changes - A method of operating a switching power converter having at least one power switch controlled by a drive signal having a switching frequency is disclosed. The method includes monitoring an output power of the switching power converter, determining whether the output power has decreased below a threshold level and, in response to the output power decreasing below the threshold level, changing the switching frequency of the drive signal from a first switching frequency to a second switching frequency when an operating condition of the switching power converter is satisfied. Also disclosed are controllers and switching power converters (including PFC converters). | 03-31-2011 |

20090122578 | Duty Cycle Dependent Non-Linear Slope Compensation For Improved Dynamic Response - A two-stage converter including a buck converter and a DC-DC converter that receives power from the buck converter. The DC-DC converter generates an output voltage of the two-stage converter. A buck control circuit generates a drive signal for the buck converter. The drive signal is based on a first signal representing the output voltage, a second signal representing load applied to the buck converter, and a compensation signal. A characteristic of the compensation signal varies based on the drive signal. | 05-14-2009 |

20150173476 | CROSS-BODY HANDBAG - A bag is disclosed for carrying items on the body of a wearer. The bag is carried at a person's side, between an arm and the torso. The bag has two straps, each of which is configured to encircle a shoulder of a person to allow for secure hands-free carrying of the bag. The strap configuration reduces the likelihood that the bag or its contents will be stolen, and helps the bag stay in place even when a person runs or dances. | 06-25-2015 |

20100268110 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CHARACTERISTIC PARAMETER ESTIMATION OF GASTRIC IMPEDANCE SPECTRA IN HUMANS - Impedance spectroscopy has been proposed as a method of monitoring mucosal injury due to hypoperfusion and ischemia in the critically ill. The invention includes an algorithm developed to calculate the characteristic electrical values that best describe human gastric impedance measurements and simplify the information obtained with this method. A database of gastric spectra was obtained from healthy volunteers, cardiovascular surgery and critically ill patients. The gastric spectrum forms two semi circles in the complex domain, divided into low frequency (F<10 kHz) and high frequency (F>10 kHz). A fitting algorithm was developed based on the Cole model, and central characteristic parameters were calculated. The parameters were validated using the normalized mean squared error and 0.7% of the spectra were discarded. From the experimental data obtained in humans, the greatest changes observed as the gastric mucosa becomes ischemic occur at low frequencies, which are specific and sensitive to tissue damage, and vary with the degree of hypoperfusion. | 10-21-2010 |
