The cooling system includes a motorcycle frame including an internal volume, an entrance orifice and an exit orifice. The cooling system further includes an electric motor including an internal volume, a first tubular element connecting the exit orifice with the electric motor and a second tubular element connecting the electric motor with the entrance orifice. The cooling system further includes a liquid coolant located within the internal volume of the frame, the internal volume of the first and second tubular elements and the internal volume of the electric motor. The cooling system further includes a pump for circulating the liquid coolant from the electric motor, through the first tubular element, through the entrance orifice of the frame, through the internal volume of the frame, through the exit orifice of the frame and back to the electric motor.07-21-2011
20110177371BATTERY SYSTEM FOR ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE - A battery system for an electric motor of an electric motorcycle is disclosed. The battery system includes a motorcycle frame defining an interior volume and a plurality of battery cells situated substantially within the interior volume of the frame, wherein each cell is individually enclosed and individually electrically coupled with the electric motor. The battery system further includes at least one housing member removably coupled with an exterior of the frame, wherein the housing member is perforated so as to allow airflow into the interior volume of the frame and wherein removal of the housing member provides unfettered access to the cells, which can be individually removed without requiring additional disassembly. The battery system further includes at least one fastener for fastening the housing member to the frame, wherein removal of the at least one fastener results in decoupling of the housing member from the frame.07-21-2011

20090157048SPIRAL CUT HYPOTUBE - A medical device such as a catheter may have an elongate shaft that includes a hypotube having a helical cutting formed therein. The elongate shaft may define a lumen that extends within the elongate shaft. An electroactive polymer may be disposed over at least a portion of the hypotube. A medical device may include a spiral cut hypotube having a constant pitch and may be configured to reversibly and temporarily alter the pitch of at least a portion of the spiral cut hypotube. In some cases, the medical device may be configured to reversibly and/or temporarily alter a compressive strength of at least a portion of the spiral cut hypotube.06-18-2009

20100170619CATHETER HAVING A MULTI-SECTION TUBULAR MEMBER AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME - A multi-section tubular member including a sleeve surrounding and bridging a joint between a first section and a second section of the tubular member, and a method of forming a multi-section tubular member are disclosed. A polymeric sleeve may extend over a portion of the first section and an adjoining portion of the second section. A length of heat shrink tubing may be placed over the sleeve and heated, thereby compressing the heat shrink tubing around the sleeve. The sleeve may then be thermally bonded to each of the first section and the second section. The heat shrink tubing may then be removed, leaving the sleeve securely joining the first section and the second section to form a multi-section tubular member.07-08-2010

20080229727NORMALIZING OXYGEN STORAGE CAPACITY(OSC) FOR CATALYST MONITORING - An oxygen storage capacity (OSC) monitoring system for a vehicle having a catalytic converter includes a control module that determines a measured OSC based on an inlet sensor signal (ISS) that is responsive to an oxygen content of exhaust flowing into the catalytic converter. The control module determines a normalization ratio based the measured OSC and determines a PASS/FAIL status of the catalytic converter based on the normalization ratio.09-25-2008
20090199560CONTROL SYSTEM FOR COLD START EMISSIONS REDUCTION IN HYBRID VEHICLES - A method comprises modifying combustion parameters of an engine of a hybrid vehicle to provide an engine power level insufficient to maintain crankshaft rotation at a desired speed including increasing a temperature of an exhaust gas and reducing an emissions content of the exhaust gas; and supplementing the engine power level with an electric machine of the hybrid vehicle to maintain crankshaft rotation at the desired speed. A control module comprises a cold start combustion control module that modifies combustion parameters of an engine of a hybrid vehicle to provide an engine power level insufficient to maintain crankshaft rotation at a desired speed, wherein the modifying includes increasing a temperature of an exhaust gas, and reducing an emissions content of the exhaust gas; and an electric machine control module that supplements the engine power level using an electric machine of the hybrid vehicle to maintain crankshaft rotation at the desired speed.08-13-2009
20090217916ENHANCED CATALYST PERFORMACE BY ENGINE LOAD ADJUSTMENT - A method comprises operating an engine of a vehicle to provide output torque to an input of a torque converter, determining whether the engine is in a cold start condition, fixing an input shaft of a transmission when the engine is in the cold start condition, and coupling the input shaft of the transmission to an output of the torque converter. A control module comprises a combustion control module that operates an engine of a vehicle to provide output torque to an input of a torque converter, a NPD module that determines whether the engine is in a cold start condition, and a transmission control module that fixes an input shaft of a transmission when the engine is in the cold start condition, wherein the input shaft of the transmission is in communication with an output of the torque converter.09-03-2009
20100107630Exhaust temperature and pressure modeling systems and methods - An exhaust control system for a vehicle comprises an exhaust system modeling module and an actuator control module. The exhaust system modeling module estimates an input gas temperature, an output gas temperature, a mass temperature, and a pressure for an exhaust system component of an exhaust system implemented in the vehicle. Exhaust gas flows through the exhaust system component. The actuator control module selectively adjusts an engine operating parameter based on at least one of the input gas temperature, the output gas temperature, the mass temperature, and the pressure.05-06-2010

20080311996System and Method for Influencing an On-Going Event - A system and method for enabling spectators to participate in a sporting event in a way that may materially affect the course, and outcome, of the event. The players, or teams, participating in the sporting event agree to have certain decisions made by spectators who are supporters of the player or team. The decisions may range from the choice of the starting line up to actually calling plays during the game. The game influencing decisions are made by pre-registered spectators who vote by making a selection from a menu of possible choices related to a player's participation in the live sporting event. The spectators may be remote to the game and watching it on a television and voting using their remote control to make menu selections. Or the spectators may be in the stands watching the game, getting and responding to menus via their cell phones.12-18-2008
20090239685System and Method for a Golf Tournament - The present invention enhances a golf tournament using novel tournament scoring and novel rules that include allowing viewer interaction with a live tournament to affect the outcome of the tournament. In a match play golf tournament, the number of tournament points awarded to a match winning team is directly proportional to a sum of the difference in the number of holes won and the number of holes left to play. In addition, elected spectators of the event may participate in a team's compliance with one or more of the tournament rules, such as selecting a player whose results will be counted double. The tournament is preferably based on the Ryder cup format, but condensed into a single day.09-24-2009
