20080279038 | MULTI-STAGE ACCURATE BLENDING SYSTEM AND METHOD - An accurate blending system for blending a feed liquid and first and second adjusting liquids includes a first feed means adapted to communicate with a supply of feed liquid, a second feed means adapted to communicate with a supply of the first adjusting liquid and a third feed means adapted to communicate with a supply of the second adjusting liquid. The first, second and third feed means may be pumps, valves or combinations thereof. A mixing device is in communication with the first, second and third feed means. First and second sensors are in communication with the mixing device. A controller communicates with the first and second sensors so that first and second characteristics of the solution in the mixing device can be detected. The controller also communicates with the first and second feed means so that delivery of first and second adjusting liquid to the mixing device can be controlled based upon the detected first and second characteristics of the solution in the mixing device. | 11-13-2008 |
20090235508 | HOIST-FREE CHROMATOGRAPHY COLUMN AND METHOD - a chromatography column, or other type of processing column, including a column tube having a top end cap having an opening there through and an open bottom end. A bottom end cap covers and is removably attached to the open bottom end of the column tube and a piston is slidably positioned within the column tube. A rod is attached to the piston and passes through the top end cap opening. The length of the rod may be extended so that the piston may be lowered partially through the open bottom end of the column tube when the bottom end cap is removed. An arrangement for raising the piston includes a hydraulic pump that communicates with a portion of an interior of the column tube above the piston via a port formed in the top end cap. | 09-24-2009 |
20110259831 | TRACKING REGULATOR SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING COLUMNS - A processing column system includes an inlet, an outlet, a piston head and a piston pressure chamber for providing a controlled bed pressure to the piston head and thus to a substrate and/or liquid bed positioned within the column. A tracking regulator is in fluid communication with a source of pressurized hydraulic fluid and the piston pressure chamber as well as the inlet to the column. The tracking regulator receives a pressure of a process fluid flow into the processing column. The tracking regulator has a hydraulic fluid drain port in fluid communication with the source of pressurized hydraulic fluid. The tracking regulator directs hydraulic fluid from the piston pressure chamber to the source of pressurized hydraulic fluid when the tracking regulator detects a drop in the pressure of the process fluid flow. The source of pressurized hydraulic fluid provides to the tracking regulator a pressure equal to a set bed pressure of the system plus a maximum anticipated process flow pressure. The tracking regulator directs additional hydraulic fluid from the source of pressurized hydraulic fluid to the piston pressure chamber of the processing column so that a pressure therein is greater than the set bed pressure when the tracking regulator detects an increase in the pressure of the process fluid flow. | 10-27-2011 |
20110293753 | Tocotrienol Compositions - Compositional formulations are provided that comprise at least one tocotrienol or a derivative thereof, in combination with compounds derived from plant extracts. The compositions can be provided in a functionally acceptable carrier, or separately in a combined regimen. In some examples, the compositions can be effective for reducing, preventing or treating medical conditions including, for example, benign tissue growths, pre-cancerous lesions, cancer, inflammations, viral infections, bacterial infections, fungal infections, parasitic infections, impaired bodily function, or cell and tissue damage due to trauma, cell and/or tissue injury from stroke events, cell and/or tissue damage from ischemic events. The mechanism of action for cancer prevention and therapy includes telomerase and/or angiogenesis inhibition. | 12-01-2011 |
