20090284185MULTI-MODE PORTABLE ILLUMINATION DEVICE - A multi-mode portable illumination device includes a switch structure featuring a substantially planar member and a mechanical switch which requires a relatively small amount of force and a short stroke distance to actuate. The mechanical switch is attached to a member which contains circuit(s) adding additional functionality to the multi-mode portable illumination device. The member has conductive springs attached to either end that are used to complete the electrical circuit with the battery and the lamp, while their compressive force is absorbed by a housing protecting the switch structure. A conductive strip is used to improve the conductivity of the circuit in a metal multi-mode portable illumination device which has been provided with an electrically resistive protective coating.11-19-2009
20090284186FLASHLIGHT AND FLASHLIGHT ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS - A flashlight with unique flashlight electrical connections, including a switch structure featuring a switch requiring a small amount of force, and a short stroke distance to actuate, attached to a member on which a circuit adding additional functions to the flashlight may be located. The member has conductive springs attached to either end that are used to complete the electrical circuit with the battery and the lamp, while their compressive force is absorbed by a housing protecting the switch structure. A conductive strip is used to improve the conductivity of the circuit in a metal flashlight which has been provided with an electrically resistive protective coating.11-19-2009
20110084631FLASHLIGHT WITH A PUSHBUTTON SWITCH - A flashlight is described comprising a flashlight body comprising a tube with a first end and a second end, the tube configured to hold at least one battery; a bulb holder for holding an illumination source at the first end of the tube; and a circuit interruption and completion device forming a complete circuit between the illumination source and the battery, when the device is in a closed mode, the device comprising a pushbutton switch which is manually actuated between at least a first closed mode and a second mode. The switch controls multiple functions of the flashlight. The switch requires at least one of a force of less than about 1000 gf and a stroke of less than 4 mm to be operably actuated.04-14-2011
20110096538MULTI-FUNCTIONAL FLASHLIGHT - A flashlight is described holding at least one battery and an illumination source. A circuit interruption and completion device is provided forming a complete circuit between the illumination source and the battery, when the device is in a closed mode. The device comprises a switch which is manually actuated between at least a first position which causes the device to enter the closed mode and a second position. A switch holding structure comprises a member with means for making an electrical connection associated with the member; and at least one conductive spring is attached to the member to make electrical contact with the means for making an electrical connection with the battery. The switch controls multiple functions of the flashlight including a strobe and a momentary mode. A pushbutton switch may control the multiple functions by multiple pushes on the switch.04-28-2011

20080305096METHOD AND COMPOSITION FOR PROVIDING CONTROLLED DELIVERY OF BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE SUBSTANCES - A method of providing controlled release of a biologically active substance within a subject's digestive system. The biologically active substance is administered concurrently with one or more soluble fibers in an oral dosage unit. The soluble fibers interact with the biologically active substance within the subject's digestive system to moderate and control the release of the biologically active substances in the subject's bloodstream. This provides more constant blood concentrations of the biologically active substances. The amount of soluble fibers in the oral dosage unit is greater than 40% by weight, and in some cases greater than 50% by weight of the oral dosage unit. The oral dosage unit typically contains from about 1 to 15g of soluble fiber, and in some cases from about 3 to 5g of soluble fiber. The biologically active substance may contain phytonutrients that promote the subject's cardiovascular system, immune system, or weight management.12-11-2008
20100074969METHOD OF CONTROLLING BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS, INSULIN LEVELS, CHOLESTEROL LEVELS, BODY FAT LEVELS, AND BODY WEIGHT BY ADMINISTERING A NUTRIENT FIBER MATRIX - A nutrient fiber matrix and associated methods that help control blood sugar levels is described. The matrix can control blood sugar in a variety of ways. In one possible example, the matrix blocks carbohydrates in a manner that reduces the body's ability to take the carbohydrates into its cells. In another example, the matrix acts to increase a person's energy level and feelings of satiety. Thus, the matrix can reduce the person's desire to consume more food and, thereby, help the person to keep from increasing his or her blood sugar levels by eating more. In still another example, the fiber matrix helps sugars to be absorbed over a longer period of time so as to smooth out and prevent spikes in blood sugar levels.03-25-2010

20080198138Identification of devices on touch-sensitive surface - The identification of a data storage device detected on a touch-sensitive display surface of a display device is described. In one embodiment, the presence and location of the data storage device is detected on the display surface and the data storage device is detected on a wireless communications channel. It is then confirmed that the data storage device detected on the wireless communications channel is the data storage device detected on the surface of the display device by communicating with the data storage device over a second communications channel.08-21-2008
