METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR INTERJECTING COMMENTS TO IMPROVE INFORMATION PRESENTATION IN SPOKEN USER INTERFACES - A method and an apparatus for providing audio information to a user. The method and apparatus provide information in multiple modes that represent various pieces of information and/or alternatives. | 10-29-2009
TURN-TAKING MODEL - A method is claimed for managing interactive dialog between a machine and a user. In one embodiment, an interaction between the machine and the user is managed in response to a timing position of possible speech onset from the user. In another embodiment, the interaction between the machine and the user is dependent upon the timing of a recognition result, which is relative to a cessation of a verbalization of a desired sequence from the machine. In another embodiment, the interaction between the machine and the user is dependent upon a recognition result and whether the desired sequence was ceased or not ceased. | 01-21-2010
TURN-TAKING CONFIDENCE - A method for managing interactive dialog between a machine and a user. In one embodiment, an interaction between the machine and the user is managed by determining at least one likelihood value which is dependent upon a possible speech onset of the user. In another embodiment, the likelihood value can be dependent on a model of a desire of the user for specific items, a model of an attention of the user to specific items, or a model of turn-taking cues. The values can be used to determine a mode confidence value that is used by the system to determine the nature of prompts provided to the user. | 12-23-2010
In various embodiments, the form of a prompt played is dependent on what previously played prompts were given to the user during that session. | 06-09-2011

Digital video projection display system - A digital display for viewing images generated by a remote video source. Light collected by a lens is focused and passed through one polarizer filter and is focused through a digital device comprising an array of pixels of which each may be fitted with a micro lens. The light is passed through the digital device, then through a second polarizer filter. A relay lens which may alter image size, transfers the image to a micro-resolution screen surface whose surface features are as small as possible and preferably under 0.5 microns in size. The micro-resolution screen surface acts as a rear projection screen which, due to its structure, achieves near Lambertian illumination. A viewing lens is focused on the image plane of the micro-resolution screen surface for viewing by the user. In one embodiment, the digital device is an LCD that is transmissive and the viewing lens is a biocular lens. The source of the signals to be used to generate the images, may be a computer or a camera. | 05-03-2012
