20090190889DEVICE FOR FURCATING FIBER OPTIC CABLES - A fiber optic cable assembly is provided. The cable assembly includes a housing, a plurality of furcation tubes, and a bundled cable. The housing has an opening at a first end and a plurality of channels at a second end. The furcation tubes are aligned with corresponding channels. One end of the bundled cable extends into an interior space of the housing through the opening. The bundled cable has a cable jacket and cable filaments. A first portion of the cable filaments extends beyond the end of the cable jacket in the interior space. A plurality of optic fibers is disposed in the bundled cable and the housing, and a molding compound is disposed around the furcation unit. Individual optic fibers are in individual furcation tubes and movable to slide longitudinally relative to the housing.07-30-2009

20090069084System and Methods for Monitoring and Controlling the Actions of an Avatar in a Virtual Environment - An Internet-based computer application displayed on a multimedia video display system that records and compiles statistics based upon the interactions of an avatar, representing a gamer, within a virtual environment. The avatar is able to act in the virtual environment by controlling, manipulating, operating, or otherwise interacting with objects and other avatars within the virtual environment. Within the virtual environment, an avatar is presented with pre-determined options controlled by variables set by the computer application for each possible interaction. The actions of the avatar are recorded in at least one database. The application can compile the data and provide summary statistics regarding the avatar's performance within the virtual environment. An interface screen can be used to view the summary statistics and alter the variables to change or adjust the options available to an avatar for interaction with objects in the virtual environment.03-12-2009

20110299572METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SUBBAND SIGNAL DEMODULATION IN A TRANSPONDER SATELLITE COMMUNICATION LINK CONTAINING A COMPONENT OF RELAYED INTERFERENCE - A method and apparatus at a local terminal are described for demodulating a remote-terminal signal located at a subband offset frequency in a frequency subband of relayed interference from a transponder satellite link. The demodulation of the remote-terminal signal is accomplished by transferring the digital data that produced the local-terminal transmit signal to the local-terminal receiver. The digital data is time-delayed and converted to a narrowband offset-constellation signal that cancels the relayed interference in an adaptive equalizer. Providing cancellation in the subband of the relayed interference produces larger interference cancellation factors than those obtained in conventional broadband cancellation systems. A phase-noise error signal is also generated and used to increase cancellation levels limited by phase noise generated in the satellite link frequency converters. Additionally the receiver converter frequencies are chosen such that errors in estimating the subband offset frequency do not affect cancellation in the adaptive equalizer.12-08-2011

20090305266TEST FOR OVARIAN CANCER BY DETECTING ABNORMALITY IN FANCD2 PATHWAY - Methods are provided for determining diagnosing ovarian and breast cancer in a subject, including diagnosing the predisposition of a subject's risk of developing breast or ovarian cancer. The methods include selecting a subject, for example a subject with one or more risk factors for developing ovarian cancer or breast cancer, and detecting a decrease in the activity of the Fanconi anemia (FA) non-nuclear core (NNC) component in the subject. Such a decrease is indicative of a predisposition to ovarian cancer and/or breast cancer in the subject. These methods can be used to monitor the response of a subject to agents designed to prevent breast and ovarian cancer, for example an anti-neoplastic agent. Methods also are provided for identifying agents of use in preventing breast and ovarian cancer.12-10-2009

20090313876SENSITIVITY ADJUSTMENT FOR ELECTRONIC BITE ALERT FOR A FISHING REEL - A fishing reel, such as a spincast reel or a spinning reel, has a clutch assembly mounted on a shaft adjacent to the rotating component, the clutch assembly for frictional engagement with a rotating component. The clutch assembly has a first and a second protuberance. A bite alert contact is located for engagement with the first protuberance. A calibration member is adjacent the clutch assembly for engagement with the second protuberance. The calibration member provides a selectable amount of resistance to rotation of the clutch assembly, thereby regulating an amount of rotational force required to activate the bite alert contact. The fishing reel may further include a sensitivity switch for adjusting the selectable amount of resistance provided by the calibration member, which may adjust the resistance in discrete amounts.12-24-2009
