20100101924SWITCHING DEVICE - A switching device includes a housing and a paddle actuator operably coupled to a front face of the housing and adapted to control a state of a load. The paddle actuator has a pair of opposing long sides and short sides and is configured to pivot about a hinge disposed proximate to one of the short sides of the paddle actuator. At least one component is disposed adjacent to the short side of the paddle actuator that is disposed proximate to the hinge and is configured to sense at least one condition. A control element is configured to control at least one of a sensing range and a sensitivity of the at least one component. The paddle actuator occupies at least 50% of the front face of the housing and the at least one component substantially occupies the remainder of the front face.04-29-2010
20100304596WIRE TERMINATION APPARATUS AND METHOD - An electrical termination and method comprising an element and a conductive member is disclosed. A wire is manually or tool-lessly securable in electrical communication with the conductive member.12-02-2010

20110028011TAMPER-RESISTANT ELECTRICAL WIRING DEVICE SYSTEM - A tamper-resistant electrical receptacle includes a cover defining a set of cover apertures; and a slider defining an aperture therein and being movable between a first position blocking the set of cover apertures and a second position not blocking the set of cover apertures, wherein when an object probes at least one and fewer than all of the set of cover apertures, the slider is constrained in the first position. When a set of prongs is inserted simultaneously through the set of cover apertures, the prongs contact a slider surface that is oriented substantially orthogonal to a longitudinal axis of the set of prongs such that the slider is urged from the first to the second position. When in the second position the slider aperture aligns with at least one of the set of cover apertures to enable the set of prongs to contact the receptacle contacts.02-03-2011

20090189542DIMMER SWITCH - A switching device includes a paddle actuator biased to a rest position and configured to pivot relative to a housing to a depressed position to engage an air-gap switch disposed within the housing. The air-gap switch is configured to change a first state of a load connected to the switching device upon engagement by the paddle actuator. The paddle actuator is defined by a pair of opposing long sides and a pair of opposing short sides and has at least one slot defined therein parallel to the pair of opposing short sides thereof and centrally disposed between the pair of opposing long sides thereof. A rocker actuator is disposed in the at least one slot defined in the paddle actuator and is configured to pivot relative thereto to engage at least one switch. The at least one switch is configured to change a second state of the load connected to the switching device upon engagement by the rocker actuator.07-30-2009

20110295140Method and Apparatus for Measuring Trace Levels of CO in Human Breath Using Cavity Enhanced, Mid-Infared Absorption Spectroscopy - A method and apparatus for analyzing trace levels of CO in human breath for the purpose of, among other things, assessing the severity of pulmonary diseases and monitoring the patient's response to a prescribed treatment. The apparatus measures in situ and in real time the CO concentration at sensitivity levels at least as low as parts per billion. A laser of the apparatus has a wavelength in mid-infrared (MIR) spectrum. The optical is constructed and arranged to perform cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy (CEAS) the breath sample. The cavity includes highly reflective mirrors mounted to each side of the optical cavity to cause the light received from the laser to bounce back and forth within the optical cavity to increase effective path length of the light. A breath intake tube is connected to the optical cavity for collecting a sample of the patient's exhaled breath and transferring it to the optical cavity. A photo detector measures parameters of the light exiting the optical cavity. A controller to operates the system and determines the concentration of CO in the breath sample based on measurements from the photo detector. Appropriate hardware and software display and store the data in real time.12-01-2011
