20090307187Tree automata based methods for obtaining answers to queries of semi-structured data stored in a database environment - Methods for efficiently obtaining answers to queries in a database (DB) environment include forming tree automata (TA), processing semi-structured data using the TA to provide indexed data, pruning the indexed data to obtain pruned data and performing a join operation to join either the pruned data or the semi-structured data to provide the answers. The queries relate to data stored as semi-structured data. In some embodiments, the TA is unordered.12-10-2009
20100232723Methods for data compression - Methods for compression of two-dimensional data arrays which are piece-wise smooth in one direction and have oscillating events in the other direction. In one embodiment, a wavelet transform is applied in the piece-wise smooth direction and a local cosine transform (LCT) is applied in the direction with oscillatory events, both producing respective transform coefficients. The LCT coefficients are reordered to mimic a wavelet transform coefficient order, and both wavelet transform and reordered LCT coefficients are quantized and entropy coded to obtain a compressed 2D image. In some embodiments with oscillatory events in both directions, a LCT is applied in both directions and all the LCT coefficients in each direction are reordered before the quantization and entropy coding.09-16-2010

20090156951PATIENT BREATHING MODELING - A method of accounting for the movement of the lungs during an endoscopic procedure such that a previously acquired image may be dynamically registered with a display showing the position of a locatable guide. After an initial image set is acquired, an area of interest is identified and the movement thereof due to breathing is mathematically modeled. Patient movement sensors are then used to provide information on the patient's breathing patterns. This information is entered into the mathematical model in order to update the registration between the image set and a display showing the position of the locatable guide.06-18-2009
20090209817Controlled Perspective Guidance Method - Navigation through a network of body passages, such as through the airways, is improved by a method of displaying information which provides a fly-through visualization of the passageway. As landmarks or waypoints are passed, the view changes to a next segment in a planned pathway to a target. Such a visualization technique avoids tunnel vision, such as that encountered while using real-time endoscopes.08-20-2009
20090240198Directional Anchoring Mechanism, Method And Applications Thereof - An anchoring mechanism and method for anchoring a device within a biological conduit include an expandable element configured for retaining the device at a desired angle relative to a central axis of the biological conduit. A steering mechanism is preferably provided for orienting the device prior to operation of the anchoring mechanism. The anchoring mechanism and method are employed in drug delivery devices, brachytherapy devices or for anchoring a catheter or sheath to provide a working channel for reliable guidance of a wide range of tools to a target location within the body.09-24-2009
20100008555Automatic Pathway And Waypoint Generation And Navigation Method - A navigation system for use in a luminal network of a patient, such as the airways, that is able to analyze a three-dimensional model of the luminal network and automatically determine a pathway from an entry point to a designated target. The system further automatically assigns waypoints along the determined pathway in order to assist a physician in navigating a probe to the designated target.01-14-2010
20100030064Feature-Based Registration Method - Methods for registering a three-dimensional model of a body volume to a real-time indication of a sensor position that involve analyzing scanned and sensed voxels and using parameters or thresholds to identify said voxels as being either tissue or intraluminal fluid. Those voxels identified as fluid are then used to construct a real-time sensed three-dimensional model of the lumen which is then compared to a similarly constructed, but previously scanned model to establish and update registration.02-04-2010
20100034449Hybrid Registration Method - A registration method whereby a sensor-based approach is used to establish initial registration and whereby upon the commencement of navigating an endoscope, image-based registration methods are used in order to more accurately maintain the registration between the endoscope location and previously-acquired images. A six-degree-of-freedom location sensor is placed on the probe in order to reduce the number of previously-acquired images that must be compared to a real-time image obtained from the endoscope.02-11-2010
20110085720Automatic Registration Technique - Registration between a digital image of a branched structure and a real-time indicator representing a location of a sensor inside the branched structure is achieved by using the sensor to “paint” a digital picture of the inside of the structure. Once enough location data has been collected, registration is achieved. The registration is “automatic” in the sense that navigation through the branched structure necessarily results in the collection of additional location data and, as a result, registration is continually refined.04-14-2011
20110206253Region-Growing Algorithm - A technique for automatically generating a virtual model of a branched structure using as an input a plurality of images taken of the branched structure. The technique employs an algorithm that avoids inaccuracies associated with sub-optimal threshold settings by “patching” holes or leaks created due to the inherent inconsistencies with imaging technology. By “patching” the holes, the algorithm may continue to run using a more sensitive threshold value than08-25-2011
20110207997Locatable Catheter - A catheter having a sensor at a distal end thereof, useable to detect and create signals from an electromagnetic field. The sensor is constructed and arranged to leave a lumen of the catheter open such that it may be used to pass instruments therethrough once a target location has been reached.08-25-2011
20120044334Hybrid Registration Method - A registration method whereby a sensor-based approach is used to establish initial registration and whereby upon the commencement of navigating an endoscope, image-based registration methods are used in order to more accurately maintain the registration between the endoscope location and previously-acquired images. A six-degree-of-freedom location sensor is placed on the probe in order to reduce the number of previously-acquired images that must be compared to a real-time image obtained from the endoscope.02-23-2012
