20090313107Universal Discount Chip (UDC) - A Universal Discount Chip (UDC) is a coding devise placed upon a credit card or a debit card offered by an issuing bank and enabling the card holder to obtain discounts from any and all participating manufacturers, retailers or (hereinafter referred to as “Merchants”) by presenting and scanning the card with the UDC at the point of sale. The issuing bank would collect the necessary data including the name and address of the Merchant, the terms and conditions of the discount. After collecting the data, the issuing bank would apply the discount and reduce the overall amount of the sales transaction. The UDC could be placed on all types of debit or credit cards, including retail store credit cards. The issuing bank would be paid a commission by the Merchant for processing the discount transaction.12-17-2009

20100315763Shock Isolation System for a Mobile Unit with a Monocoque Housing - A monocoque housing for a mobile unit comprises a base, an end cap, and an isolation gasket. The mobile unit includes an electronic stack assembly. The base has an opening. The end cap is adapted to removably couple with the base. The end cap includes a cap and a frame where the frame is received by the base through the opening so that the cap covers the opening. The isolation gasket is disposed between the frame and the electronic stack assembly. The electronic stack assembly is not mechanically fastened to the isolation gasket. When the mobile unit experiences a shock load, the isolation gasket absorbs the shock load to reduce the shock load on the electronic stack assembly.12-16-2010

20080295317PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURE OF A LOW COST EXTRUDED AND LAMINATED MICROSTRIP ELEMENT ANTENNA - Methods, systems, and apparatuses for automated manufacturing microstrip element antennas is described. The microstrip element antenna comprises a printed circuit layer, a dielectric layer and a ground plane layer. Mass manufacturing process for such microstrip element antennas without any substantial manual assembly process is described. Automation of the manufacturing steps leads to lower production costs, faster production and a higher yield.12-04-2008
20080297417LIGHT WEIGHT RUGGED MICROSTRIP ELEMENT ANTENNA INCORPORATING SKELETON DIELECTRIC SPACER - Methods, systems, and apparatuses for manufacturing light weight microstrip element antennas incorporating a skeleton dielectric spacer instead of a regular solid body dielectric spacer is described. The microstrip element antenna comprises a radiator, a dielectric layer which is in the form of a skeleton rib-caged structure and a ground plane layer. Due to the skeleton rib-caged structure of the dielectric spacer, design flexibility in terms of a non-uniform variation of the effective dielectric constant across various dimensions of the dielectric layer is obtained. Additional advantages of such a dielectric spacer include a wider choice of materials from which the antenna can be made, overall light weight and low production time and machine cost due to lower cooling time of the dielectric. Further, an antenna with a skeleton dielectric spacer further has a better drying characteristics in an event of a water ingress during or post-production.12-04-2008
20090322706INFORMATION DISPLAY WITH OPTICAL DATA CAPTURE - Systems, devices, and/or methods that facilitate information display with optical data capture are presented. A display surface comprises optically selectable materials and/or contact transparent materials. The disclosed subject matter facilitates displaying information on a surface and collecting optical information about objects interacting with the display surface. The collected optical data, at least in part, is used in determinations related to updating display information. Additional sensors can be incorporated into the system to provide additional information that can be employed in determinations relating to updating display information.12-31-2009
20110121075METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUGMENTING OPTICAL BARCODE SCANNER WITH RFID READER - An apparatus and method for augmenting an optical barcode scanner. The apparatus comprises an accessory module that includes an RFID reader, a body part attachable to the optical barcode scanner, and an interface connector for forming a communication link between the RFID reader and the optical barcode scanner when the interface connector is connected with the expansion port of the optical barcode scanner.05-26-2011
20110128128METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IMPROVING RFID TAG READING - An apparatus and method for improving RFID tag reading. The apparatus includes a substrate element having a predetermined active area, and a plurality of resonant elements each having a resonant frequency, a quality factor, and a response band. The resonant elements are distributed within the predetermined active area of the substrate element for scattering interrogation electromagnetic waves radiated thereupon from the RFID reader. At least one resonant element has a null-direction thereof orientated in a direction that is substantially orthogonal to a line extending from a center of the resonant element to a center of an antenna of the RFID reader.06-02-2011
20110130085METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IDENTIFYING READ ZONE OF RFID READER - An apparatus and method for identifying the read zone of an RFID reader. The apparatus includes a supporting sheet, a reader-position mark on the supporting sheet to indicate a recommended location to position an RFID reader, and a zone-boundary mark on the supporting sheet to indicate a read zone of the RFID reader with a predetermined field strength.06-02-2011

20100028704ELASTIC PRE-MOLD FOR OVER-MOLDING AN INSERT - An elastic pre-mold (or simply “pre-mold”) is provided on one or more surfaces of a hard insert prior to an over-molding process. The pre-mold layer absorbs or otherwise accommodates shrinkage of the over-mold material, thereby reducing localized mechanical stresses and reducing or eliminating the effects of stress risers. The pre-mold material rounds off corners of the insert that could function as stress risers. The pre-mold material may be one of a variety of thermoplastic and thermoset elastomers.02-04-2010
