| 20110061318 | FIRESHIELD DEVICE FOR HOME PROTECTION AGAINST THREATENING WILDFIRES - The FIRESHIELD approach presented herein is unique and designed as a barrier-like device capable of preventing wildfire embers from entering a structure's attic through its air vents while preserving the mold-resistant qualities as that of an open air vent. Modifications of air vents to a rooftop's attic are to be made with the retrofitting of an oversized FIRESHIELD panel that is externally mounted with a narrow ‘standoff’ gapped region. This panel acts as a barrier to wildfire driven embers and also forms an inner air channel pathway that accommodates air ventilation to the attic. This unique design is called a FIRESHIELD device and covers the typical air vent with an external attachment device consisting of a low cost, sheet-like panel (such as an aluminum sheet) with attachment to the rooftop air vent so as to provide a narrow ‘standoff’ air gap for maintaining ventilation. In this manner, inner-attic rooftop fire starts typically caused by air vent ingested embers that initiate from urban wildfires can largely be avoided and many lives and homes could be saved due to the application of this invention. | 03-17-2011 |

| 20100260066 | NETWORK DISCOVERY AND DATA TRANSFER USING SNMP IN AN ELECTRIC POWER TRANSMISSION OR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM - Disclosed herein are systems and methods for performing network discovery and file transfer utilizing Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). According to one embodiment, a manager queries an agent device to obtain an agent device's neighbor address table comprising IP addresses of neighboring devices. IP addresses comprised in the agent device's neighbor address table may be added to a network inventory. The manager device may then iteratively query each device in the network inventory until each of the plurality of agent devices have been queried. According to one embodiment, a device may divide a data file into a plurality of sequenced partitions. A plurality of packets may be created containing the sequenced partitions. A receiving device may reconstruct the data file using the sequenced partitions. | 10-14-2010 |

| 20080252175 | Dithering mechanism for eliminating zero-rate bias in a gyroscope - Dithering mechanism and method for eliminating the effects of zero-rate bias in a rate sensor or gyroscope. Both continuously moving and indexing embodiments are disclosed. The mechanism includes a first part mounted in a fixed position centered about a dither axis perpendicular to the input axis of the gyroscope, a second part disposed coaxially of the first part and affixed to the sensing element of the gyroscope, and a plurality of piezoelectrically driven quartz flexure beams extending radially between the first and second parts for dithering the second part about the dither axis. In some embodiments, the dithering mechanism is formed separately from and affixed to the sensing element of the gyroscope, and in others it is formed integrally with the sensing element. In the indexing embodiments, radial arms and fixed stops limit movement of the mechanism between two fixed positions, and drive signals and holding potentials are applied alternately to dither the mechanism between the two positions and to hold it alternately in those positions during successive data acquisition periods. | 10-16-2008 |
