20090161684System and Method for Dynamically Allocating Buffers Based on Priority Levels - Methods and systems consistent with the present invention provide dynamic buffer allocation to a plurality of queues of differing priority levels. Each queue is allocated fixed minimum number of buffers that will not be de-allocated during buffer reassignment. The rest of the buffers are intelligently and dynamically assigned to each queue depending on their current need. The system then monitors and learns the incoming traffic pattern and resulting drops in each queue due to traffic bursts. Based on this information, the system readjusts allocation of buffers to each traffic class. If a higher priority queue does not need the buffers, it gradually relinquishes them. These buffers are then assigned to other queues based on the input traffic pattern and resultant drops. These buffers are aggressively reclaimed and reassigned to higher priority queues when needed. In this way, methods and systems consistent with the present invention dynamically balance requirements of the higher priority queues versus optimal allocation.06-25-2009

20090210619Method for handling more than a maximum number of supported drives in a raid configuration - The present invention is a method for handling disk drives in a Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) configuration. The method may include detecting a disk drive received via insertion of the disk drive in a disk drive slot of an enclosure of the RAID configuration. Prior to the disk drive being received, it may be that fewer than a maximum number of supported disk drives are configured. It may also be the case that, after the disk drive is received, no more than the maximum number of supported drives are in-place within the enclosure of the RAID configuration. In such instances, and when the insertion is a cold insertion into an empty disk drive slot, the method may further include marking the disk drive as Un-configured good alias Ready. Further, if the disk drive is inserted into a missing disk drive slot and has a smaller storage capacity than that of the replaced disk drive previously in place within the missing disk drive slot, the method may further include marking the disk drive as FAIL. Still further, if the disk drive is inserted into a missing disk drive slot and has the same storage capacity or larger storage capacity than the replaced disk drive, the method may further include marking the disk drive as FAIL or RBLD based on an Auto Rebuild flag.08-20-2009

20100131937OPTIMIZATION HINTS FOR A BUSINESS PROCESS FLOW - In one embodiment, an optimization hint may be included in a business process flow. An executable process may be generated from the business process flow where the optimization hint is included in the executable process. While executing the executable process, the runtime engine encounters an optimization hint and determines an optimization to perform. The optimization hint may be related to an aspect of a business process being orchestrated by the business process flow. The optimization is then performed while executing the executable process. For example, the runtime engine may start pre-processing the branch while the condition is being evaluated. If the condition evaluates such that the pre-processed branch should be executed, then the runtime engine has already started processing of that branch. The processing is thus optimized in that the runtime engine is not sitting idle while waiting for the condition to be evaluated.05-27-2010
