20100118058DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF DRIVING THE SAME - In one embodiment of the present invention, an active-matrix type display unit, and a drive method thereof are disclosed. Gate-bus lines are provided at both top and bottom sides of each row. Two sub-pixels are formed at a region surrounded by two adjacent source-bus lines and two adjacent gate-bus lines. At the odd-numbered rows, for the left-side sub-pixel of those two sub-pixels, a scanning signal is supplied from the top-side gate-bus line, while a video signal is supplied from the left-side source-bus line. For the right-side sub-pixel, on the contrary, a scanning signal is supplied from the bottom-side gate-bus line, while a video signal is supplied from the right-side source-bus line. At the even-numbered rows, the gate-bus line from which a scanning signal is supplied is reversed to the case of the odd-numbered rows. The gate-bus lines are sequentially selected one by one, and all the video signal polarities are made the same during each horizontal scanning period.05-13-2010
20100134473LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE - In a liquid crystal display device performing alternating-current driving, at least one of a gate voltage amplitude Vgp−p(p) upon application of a positive polarity voltage and a gate voltage amplitude Vgp−p(n) upon application of a negative polarity voltage is changed in accordance with a liquid crystal driving frequency. Thus, an effective value of a liquid crystal application voltage in a positive polarity is set to be equal to an effective value of a liquid crystal application voltage in a negative polarity irrespective of the liquid crystal driving frequency, so that flicker is prevented from occurring when the liquid crystal driving frequency is switched. As the liquid crystal driving frequency is low, a gate low voltage Vgln after application of the negative polarity voltage is set to be low. Thus, a leak current from a TFT is reduced in the negative polarity, and a liquid crystal element is improved in voltage holding ratio.06-03-2010

20080286528Color Filter Substrate, Liquid Crystal Display Device, Production Method of Color Filter Substrate, Production Method of Liquid Crystal Display Device - To provide: a color filter substrate with high display quality in which defective portions of a bank member (black matrix), such as a pin hole, a portion having an insufficient film thickness, a portion having an insufficient width, and a disconnection portion, or color mixing defects of a colored layer are corrected by the simple and inexpensive method; a liquid crystal display device including such a color filter; and production methods thereof. The color filter substrate of the present invention is a color filter substrate comprising a bank member and a colored layer on a substrate, wherein the color filter substrate has a structure in which a color mixing member formed of colored layer materials of two or more colors is formed in a defective portion of the bank member or along the bank member.11-20-2008
20090201455ACTIVE MATRIX SUBSTRATE AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE PROVIDED WITH SAME - An active matrix substrate includes an insulating substrate, gate wires and source wires that intersect with each other on the insulating substrate, and TFTs provided at intersections of signal lines. The TFTs include gate electrodes, source electrodes and drain electrodes, respectively. A transparent conductive film, which is arranged to be used as a lower layer of the sources and the drains, is used as common electrodes for pixel areas surrounded by adjacent source wires, and also common electrode wires arranged to connect adjacent ones of the common electrodes parallel or substantially parallel to the source wires. This provides an active matrix substrate in which a signal delay caused by resistance and parasitic capacitance is reduced.08-13-2009
20090237391DISPLAY CONTROLLER, DISPLAY DEVICE, DISPLAY SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING DISPLAY DEVICE - A display controller is capable of changing a refresh rate, indicative of how often a screen displayed on a display device having a plurality of pixels is switched, between a low refresh rate of 40 Hz and a normal refresh rate of 60 Hz and generates (i) a dot clock (reference clock) serving as a timing signal indicative of a timing of operation in the display device, (ii) video data indicative of an image to be displayed on the screen, (iii) Hsync for defining a horizontal period of a display on the screen, and (vi) Vsync for defining a vertical period of the display on the screen, so as to supply the dot clock, the video data, Hsync, and Vsync to the display device, wherein the display controller includes a dot clock generation circuit for generating the reference clock whose frequency is constant without depending on a change of the refresh rate. This makes it possible to provide the display controller which can suppress occurrence of noise also in switching the refresh rate and which does not allow any screen derangement which is caused by the noise.09-24-2009
20090295779DEVICE CONTROLLER, DISPLAY DEVICE, AND CONTROL METHOD FOR CONTROLLING DISPLAY SYSTEM AND DISPLAY DEVICE - In one embodiment of the present invention, a display controller includes a stable pixel writing period in one horizontal period in a display device, the stable pixel writing period being a period during which a voltage outputted from a gate driver is at a high level. The display controller also includes a first stable pixel writing period determination circuit which determines, by using a reference signal independent from the frame rate in the display device, the stable pixel writing period during which the voltage is at the high level. Thus, the display controller can be provided in which, regardless of whether and how the frame rate is changed, the stable pixel writing period can be of a target length.12-03-2009
