Method and system for detecting the physiological onset of operator fatigue - A method and system for detecting the physiological onset of operator fatigue. The condition of the operator is correlated with physiological signs of the early stages in the process of falling asleep according to the Hori EEG model. Passive correlation is done via monitoring of the gripping pressure of the operator's hand(s) on a handgrip containing pressure transducers. Correlation with Hori stage 2 is a preliminary indicator of the onset of operator fatigue. Active correlation is done via contingent Psychomotor Vigilance Tests administered upon the preliminary indication, with operator stimulus from a vibratory element in the handgrip and operator response being a rapid increase in gripping pressure. Correlation of the frequency of contingent PVT requests with Hori stage 3 is a critical indicator of the onset of operator fatigue. Upon detection of the onset of fatigue, an alarm is signaled to the operator and other personnel. | 03-12-2009

MULTI-COMPONENT ANTIOXIDANT COMPOUNDS, PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING SAME AND THEIR USE FOR REDUCING OR PREVENTING OXIDATIVE STRESS - An antioxidant compound is disclosed. The compound is characterized by (a) a peptide including at least three amino acid residues of which at least two are cysteine residues, each having a readily oxidizable sulfhydryl group for effecting antioxidation; and at least two peptide bonds, each being cleavable by at least one intracellular peptidase; and (b) a first hydrophobic or non-charged moiety being attached to an amino terminal of the peptide via a first bond and a second hydrophobic or non-charged moiety being attached to a carboxy terminal of the peptide via a second bond, the first hydrophobic or non-charged moiety and the second hydrophobic or non-charged moiety are selected so as to provide the antioxidant compound with membrane miscibility properties for permitting the antioxidant compound to cross cellular membranes; wherein cleavage of the at least two peptide bonds by the at least one intracellular peptidase results in generation of a plurality of antioxidant species, each including one of the cysteine residues having the readily oxidizable sulfhydryl group and which is also active in effecting antioxidation, thereby providing for a plurality of different antioxidant species acting in synergy in exerting antioxidation. | 08-04-2011

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATIC MONITORING OF DIABETES RELATED TREATMENTS - The present invention discloses a monitoring system and method for use in monitoring diabetes treatment of a patient. The system comprises a control unit comprising a first processor module for processing measured data indicative of blood glucose level and generating first processed data indicative thereof, a second processor module comprising at least one fuzzy logic module; the second processor module receives input parameters corresponding to the measured data, the first processed data and a reference data including individualized patient's profile related data, to individualized patient's treatment history related data and processes the received data to produce at least one qualitative output parameter indicative of patient's treatment parameters, such that the second processor module determines whether any of the treatment parameters is to be modified. | 05-17-2012

The device includes an injection needle disposed within the housing for moving between a retracted position and an extended position. | 09-29-2011 |
FIBRIN BASED SCAFFOLD, PREPARATION AND USE THEREOF - The invention relates to a fibrin-based scaffold suitable for supporting a population of cells comprising mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) and/or umbilical tissue derived cells (UTC) at the site of administration for a prolonged period of time. The scaffold is capable of supporting at least 1×10 | 02-16-2012
DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DISPENSING A FIXED DOSE OF FLUID - The invention relates to a device for dispensing a fixed dose of fluid, the device comprising at least one barrel; at least one plunger at least partially enclosed within the barrel; a motion conversion mechanism for transferring actuated pressure force applied outside the barrel into movement of the at least one plunger in a dispensing direction, wherein the motion conversion mechanism comprises at least one rotating gear; and a releasing mechanism for disconnecting the plunger from the motion conversion mechanism, wherein at a released position the at least one plunger can move in a direction opposite to the dispensing direction, independent of a rotational movement of the at least one gear, and wherein the movement of the plunger in the opposite direction to the dispensing enables loading the fluid into the barrel. | 02-23-2012
