20110026489 | OPTIMIZED DATA RECONNECT - A method of optimizing reconnection of a point to point protocol link layer in a mobile device comprising the steps of: monitoring whether the mobile device has entered a new zone; starting a stabilization period when the mobile device enters a new zone; checking whether the mobile device enters a different zone during the stabilization period; if the mobile device enters a different zone during the stabilization period, restarting the stabilization period and performing the checking step; and if the mobile device does not enter a new zone during the stabilization period, determining whether the mobile device is in a new zone, reconnecting to the new zone if the mobile device is in the new zone, and otherwise performing no reconnection. | 02-03-2011 |
20110201295 | METHOD FOR CONTROLLING OF RECEIVE DIVERSITY IN AN ANTENNA SYSTEM - A method for controlling receive diversity of an antenna system of a computer device, the antenna system including two or more antenna elements. The method includes establishing a session with a remote transmitting system and determining whether a predetermined criteria detected by the computer device is satisfied within the session. If the predetermined criteria is satisfied within the session, the method includes activating at least two of the antenna elements for receiving transmissions, enabling performance of receive diversity on the received transmissions, and performing receive diversity on the received transmissions. If the predetermined criteria is not satisfied within the session, the method includes activating at least one of the antenna elements, disabling performance of receive diversity on the received transmissions, and performing a default signal processing on the received transmissions. A mobile communication device may be used to perform the method. | 08-18-2011 |
20110244864 | Methods And Apparatus For Selecting A Base Station Transceiver System Based On Service Communication Type - Techniques for use in selecting a base station transceiver system for communication with a mobile station are described. The mobile station is connected to a first base station transceiver system, and scans to identify a second base station transceiver system for communication. The mobile station further identifies that the second base station transceiver system provides a predetermined communication service, and that the first base station transceiver system fails to provide the predetermined communication service. In response to identifying, the mobile station causes the second base station transceiver system to be selected for communication over the first base station transceiver system even if the signal quality of the second base station transceiver system is worse than that of the first base station transceiver system. Identifying whether the first and second base station transceiver system provide the predetermined communication service is based on parameters transmitted from the first and second base station transceiver systems. | 10-06-2011 |
20110255476 | System And Method Of Data Access For Mobile Stations - Method and apparatus for data access for a mobile terminal comprising a module for determining whether first and second modes of wireless network coverage is available, a module for selecting the first mode if available, a module for attempting access via the second mode on failure to establish access via the first mode and a module for monitoring availability of the first mode. Even when a connection is established via the second mode, availability of the first mode is monitored and access attempted, when second mode connection is idle. | 10-20-2011 |
20110275411 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONFIGURATION OF A DEVICE PERSONALITY BASED ON MOBILE DEVICE IDENTITY MODULE - A method and apparatus for configuration of a device personality based on mobile device identity module, the method including checking an identity module on the mobile device for one or more network modes; and configuring the personality of the mobile device based on results of the checking step. | 11-10-2011 |
20110319050 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR A MOBILE STATION TO ENHANCE THE PROBABILITY OF SUCCESSFUL EMERGENCY CALL COMPLETION AND SUCCESSFUL CALLBACK FROM EMERGENCY SERVICE CENTRE - A method and apparatus for enhancing the probability of a successful emergency call completion and emergency callback on a mobile station in a network, the method comprising the steps of: during an emergency call attempt, monitoring whether the mobile station has received a non-voice service request from the network and, if yes, ignoring the non-voice service request. Further, during a callback period, monitoring whether the mobile station has received a service request from the network and, if yes, ignoring the service request if the service request is a non-voice service request that is anything but a position location service request. Further, during a callback period, monitoring whether a user attempts to initiate a non-voice service request that is anything but a position location service request, and if yes ignoring the non-voice service request. | 12-29-2011 |
20120003958 | METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DATA SESSION ESTABLISHMENT - A method and system for data session establishment from a mobile device in a multiple networks scenario, the method including, checking whether an identifier for an first network is on a blacklist on the mobile device; if the first network identifier is not on the blacklist, attempting to establish a data connection with the first network; and if the first network identifier is on the blacklist, establishing a data connection with a second network. The method and system for data session establishment include deriving and maintaining the blacklist. | 01-05-2012 |
20120122461 | TECHNIQUES FOR MANAGING COMMUNICATIONS RESOURCES FOR A MOBILE DEVICE - Techniques to manage communications resources for a mobile device are described. An apparatus may comprise a mobile computing device having a radio arranged to communicate information over a wireless link, a link classifier arranged to generate a class parameter for the wireless link based on signal quality measurements of the wireless link, and a data service manager arranged to receive a data service request from an application, determine whether the application may communicate information over the wireless link based on the class parameter for the wireless link, and generate a control directive for the application granting or denying the data service request. Other embodiments are described and claimed. | 05-17-2012 |
20120165080 | WIRELESS DEVICE BATTERY CONSERVATION METHOD AND SYSTEM - Generally, the present invention provides a method for detecting poor RF conditions, and entering different sleep mode levels or phases in accordance with the RF conditions to save battery power. Mobile device battery life can be conserved when the mobile device detects poor RF conditions and enters a deep sleep mode of operation. In this deep sleep mode of operation the mobile device periodically samples the RF conditions and gradually increases the period between samples when the RF conditions do not improve. Because mobility can change the RF condition for wireless devices even in areas of good RF coverage, the mobile device operating in the deep sleep mode can detect this mobility and thus enhance the probability of entering an idle state, or alternatively, entering a longer power save mode. When the RF condition improves, the mobile device exits from the deep sleep mode and returns to the idle state. | 06-28-2012 |
