20080223538CASTING FURNACE - An apparatus and process are provided for casting liquid metals into molds in a casting furnace comprising a controlled environment melt chamber and a mold lock chamber. A mold is supplied to the controlled environment melt chamber for a pour, and removed from the same chamber via a mold lock chamber. A mold transport system moves the mold through the mold lock chamber. The mold transport system comprises a rotary screw drive, a cylinder screw drive, or hydraulic drive located external to the furnace. Alternatively the mold transport system comprises a rack and worm screw drive.09-18-2008

20080268628N-TYPE SEMICONDUCTOR COMPONENT WITH IMPROVED DOPANT IMPLANTATION PROFILE AND METHOD OF FORMING SAME - The disclosure relates to a method of forming an n-type doped active area on a semiconductor substrate that presents an improved placement profile. The method comprises the placement of arsenic in the presence of a carbon-containing arsenic diffusion suppressant in order to reduce the diffusion of the arsenic out of the target area during heat-induced annealing. The method may additionally include the placement of an amorphizer, such as germanium, in the target area in order to reduce channeling of the arsenic ions through the crystalline lattice. The method may also include the use of arsenic in addition to another n-type dopant, e.g. phosphorus, in order to offset some of the disadvantages of a pure arsenic dopant. The disclosure also relates to a semiconductor component, e.g. an NMOS transistor, formed in accordance with the described methods.10-30-2008
20090004803MULTI-STAGE IMPLANT TO IMPROVE DEVICE CHARACTERISTICS - One aspect of the inventors' concept relates to a method of forming a semiconductor device. In this method, a gate structure is formed over a semiconductor body. A source/drain mask is patterned over the semiconductor body implanted source and drain regions are formed that are associated with the gate structure. After forming the implanted source and drain regions, a multi-stage implant is performed on the source and drain regions that comprises at least two implants where the dose and energy of the first implant varies from the dose and energy of the second implant. Other methods and devices are also disclosed.01-01-2009

20120123460TROCAR - A trocar is described. The trocar is formed of a biocompatible material, such as but not limited to stainless steel. Accordingly, the trocar is reusable for a relatively large number of surgical procedures assuming conventional sterilization techniques are employed after each surgical procedure. Additionally, the trocar is provided with an angled blade design formed on a distal portion of the trocar shaft. More specifically, the blade design includes a first portion extending substantially co-planar to a proximal portion of the tip portion of the trocar shaft and a second portion extending angularly inwardly towards a distal portion of the tip portion of the trocar shaft.05-17-2012

20090170147Forensic test kit and method for the detection of semen - The present invention relates to a forensic test kit and method for the detection of semen. This kit is comprised of two main components: acid phosphatase (AP) test strips and prostate specific antigen (PSA) test strips, which work together to provide evidence of semen on fabrics and other surfaces. The AP strips are used first to test an item, which provides presumptive evidence of semen, while follow-on testing by the more sensitive and specific PSA strips provides confirmatory evidence.07-02-2009

20100124760Zinc Test Strip and Method for the Detection of Semen - The present invention relates to a forensic test strip and method for the detection of semen. This strip is comprised of a paper element coated with reagents which react to the presence of zinc, a component of semen, and is affixed to a plastic backing to facilitate testing items without touching the highly sensitive coated portion of the strip. This assembly is exposed to a source of semen, such as a suspicious stain on a garment. A positive test is characterized by a bright pink color, which easily can be seen against the light yellow background. A positive test provides presumptive evidence of semen.05-20-2010
20100124778Forensic Test Strip and Method for the Detection of Semen - The present invention relates to a forensic test strip and method for the detection of semen. This strip is comprised of a paper element coated with reagents which react to the presence of acid phosphatase (AP), an enzyme found in semen, and is sandwiched between a clear plastic cover and an opaque plastic backing. This assembly is peeled apart, the paper element exposed to a source of semen, and the clear cover replaced. A positive test is characterized by a bright purple color, which easily can be seen through the clear cover. An adhesive backing is provided, which allows an investigator conveniently to affix the test strip directly to a notebook.05-20-2010
