20090285190PERFORMING NETWORKING TASKS BASED ON DESTINATION NETWORKS - Methods and systems which identify and interact with network interfaces based on the network to which they provide access. A computing device operating in accordance with one or more of the principles described herein may examine available network interfaces and identify the network to which the network interfaces provide access, and perform networking tasks on interfaces based on the network identified. For example, a user may instruct a computing device to connect to a specified network, and the computing device will select a particular network interface by which to connect from the one or more available network interfaces that are able to connect to that network. Alternatively, a user may manage policies (e.g., security, connection, and application policies) based on the network to which a network interface provides access and thereby manage a network regardless of which of multiple network interfaces is used to access the network.11-19-2009
20100107240NETWORK LOCATION DETERMINATION FOR DIRECT ACCESS NETWORKS - A client computer that supports different behaviors when connected to a private network behind a network firewall than when outside the network firewall and connected indirectly through an access device. The client computer is configured to attempt communication with a device on the network. Based on the response, the client computer can determine that it is behind the network firewall, and therefore can operate with less restrictive security or settings for other parameters appropriate for when the client is directly connected to the network. Alternatively, the client computer may determine that it is indirectly connected to the network through the Internet or other outside network, and therefore, because it is outside the private network firewall, should operate with more restrictive security or settings of other parameters more appropriate for use in that network location. The described approach operates even if the remote client computer has a direct connection to the network that enables it to authenticate with a domain controller.04-29-2010

20090033272TECHNIQUES FOR REDUNDANCY AND FAULT TOLERANCE IN HIGH DEMAND MACHINE SAFETY APPLICATIONS - Self-sensing feedback functionality for electromechanical actuators/motors is provided for use in operation and/or as a redundant safety mechanism to attain safety certification without adding extra bulk or wiring to the motor. An actuator can be manufactured having one or more saliencies that cause a spatial variance of inductance. A high frequency signal can be injected into the actuator and sampled to determine a current, voltage, or other electrical parameter. The parameter can be evaluated against the known saliencies of the actuator to determine a position of the actuator and/or an associated rotor. Additionally, the position can be evaluated as a function of time to determine a velocity. This can provide an alternative method for operating the electromechanical actuator according to the position/velocity provided. Additionally, this can provide a redundant feedback channel for safety certification without requiring additional actuator parts.02-05-2009
20090204232SELF SENSING COMPONENT INTERFACE SYSTEM - The subject innovation provides for systems and methods to optimize control systems for networked industrial sensors or devices and methods for self sensing, communicating with, monitoring of, controlling and optimizing utilization of networked industrial sensors and related control systems primarily in an industrial automation environment. The invention provides self-sensing and communication with sensors, and integration of control methods and strategies with decision support and logistics systems, to optimize specifically defined operational and performance objectives.08-13-2009
20100082837METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COMMUNICATIONS ACCELERATOR ON CIP MOTION NETWORKS - An apparatus for accelerating communications over the Ethernet between a first processor and a second processor where the communications include CIP messages, the apparatus comprising a network accelerator that includes memory locations, the accelerator associated with the first processor and programmed to, when the second processor transmits a data packet to the first processor over the Ethernet, intercept the data packet at a first processor end of the Ethernet, extract a CIP message from the data packet, parse the CIP message to generate received data, store the received data in the memory locations and provide a signal to the first processor indicating that data for the first processor in stored in the memory locations.04-01-2010

20120023107SYSTEM AND METHOD OF MATCHING AND MERGING RECORDS - A system and method of matching and merging records is disclosed herein. Embodiments comprise receiving, a plurality of records from a feed, wherein a record in the plurality of records from the feed may be either partial or complete. A processor executes fuzzy matching logic to determine whether one or more records in the plurality of records from the feed match an existing record. The processor then executes a merged of the one or more matching records with the existing record to form a merged composite record. Finally, the merged composite record is stored.01-26-2012

20120121589MODIFIED EGFR ECTODOMAIN - A protein that attenuates EGFR and/or EGFR family members comprises a modified EGFR ectodomain. The protein inhibits signaling via the EGFR and/or EGFR family members. The protein includes a portion of the EGFR (or EGFR family member) and the ā€œUā€ region epitope of EGFR related protein (ERRP), wherein the portion of the EGFR is operable to bind a ligand of EGFR. Also included are nucleic acids encoding such proteins. Attenuating EGFR signaling can include inhibiting the EGFR and/or EGFR family members and to provide antiproliferative activity. The present proteins and expression of nucleic acids encoding these proteins can regulate cellular growth and can be used to treat tumors and cancerous cells that express one or more of the EGFR and EGFR family members.05-17-2012

20100214968Idle mode power consumption reduction in wireless communications - Idle mode power consumption reduction in wireless communications. Within a wireless communication device that is operative to communicate with any one of a number of servicing cells, paging broadcasts from more than one of these servicing cells are received and undergo only a limited amount of processing before being stored for use in subsequent processing that may be performed later. This partitioned processing allows the turning off of certain components that are not needed and/or no longer needed for determining the system frame numbers associated with various servicing cells to effectuate timing synchronization. Certain modules within such a wireless communication device may perform processing using the full capabilities of the wireless communication device to generate initially processed signal, and then after such signals are stored, then only partial processing capability of the wireless communication device may be employed, even though perhaps being slower, to complete the processing.08-26-2010
