20110260994SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETERMINING THE LOCATION AND PRESSURE OF A TOUCHLOAD APPLIED TO A TOUCHPAD - A computing device with a multi-touch touch interface having a plurality of rows of contact points and a plurality of columns of contact points. For each other row of contact points, every contact point in the row is connected to form a row sensor. For each other column of contact points, every contact point in the column that is not part of a row sensor is connected to form a column sensor. The contact points that are not part of a row sensor and not part of a column sensor are connected together to form at least one shape sensor. A computing device with a multi-touch touch interface having a plurality of contact points has at least one layer of piezoresistive material, an insulating structure disposed between the plurality of contact points and the piezoresistive material, and a gap between the plurality of contact points and piezoresistive material. A method of providing multi-layered password recognition for a computing device having a touch interface first provides a passcode associated with an alphanumeric symbol to the computing device. The alphanumeric symbol is associated with a passcode pressure level. A touch load is applied to the touch interface and a measured pressure level associated with the applied touch load is determined. Then it is determined whether the measured pressure level corresponds to the passcode pressure level associated with the alphanumeric symbol of the passcode.10-27-2011

20080214092METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASUREMENT OF MAGNETIC PERMEABILITY OF A MATERIAL - A system for determining the magnetic permeability of a material is provided. Two electrical inductors formed as primary and secondary concentric coils share a common magnetic core space. An AC voltage applied to the primary coil creates a magnetic flux in the core proportional to the magnetic permeability of a sample of the material positioned within the core space. The magnetic flux induces an AC voltage in the secondary coil indicative of the sample magnetic permeability. When the material is a magnetorheological fluid, the magnetic permeability is proportional to the concentration of magnetic particles in the sample and can be back-calculated from the amplitude of the secondary voltage signal. Sensitivity and resolution can be increased by using two identical sets of coils wherein a reference material forms a core for the primary set and the MR fluid sample forms a core for the secondary set.09-04-2008
20100079137METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASUREMENT OF MAGNETIC PERMEABILITY OF A MATERIAL - A system for determining magnetic permeability of a material. Two electrical inductors formed as primary and secondary concentric coils share a common magnetic core space. A first AC voltage applied to the primary coil creates a magnetic flux in the core proportional to the magnetic permeability of the material. The magnetic flux induces an AC voltage in the secondary coil indicative of the apparent magnetic permeability of the sample. The apparent permeability is corrected for conductivity by imposing a second AC voltage and resistor in series across first and second electrodes disposed in the material. When the material is a magnetorheological fluid, the magnetic permeability is proportional to the concentration of magnetic particles in the sample and can be back-calculated from the amplitude of the secondary voltage signal.04-01-2010

20080213638ENGINE BLOCK FOR USE IN A FUEL CELL SYSTEM - In one embodiment, an engine block may comprise an interconnect having: a first manifold section, a second manifold section perpendicular to the first manifold section, the first manifold section and the second manifold section having a plurality of conduits to receive a gas flow, wherein the first manifold section and the second manifold section are formed from a single manifold device; a fuel cell stack housing coupled to the second manifold section to receive a fuel cell stack; and a fuel processor coupled to the first manifold section, wherein the fuel cell processor and the fuel cell stack operate at substantially the same temperature.09-04-2008
20080289180FUEL PROCESSOR FOR USE IN A FUEL CELL SYSTEM - A method for manufacturing a fuel processor may comprise coupling a plurality of micro-tubes in parallel to form a flow field tube array, each of the plurality of micro-tubes designed to receive a fluid flow, depositing a catalyst layer inside each of the plurality of micro-tubes, and attaching at least one burner to a first end of the flow field tube array.11-27-2008
20100047139FUEL PROCESSOR FOR USE WITH PORTABLE CELLS - The invention relates to a fuel processor that produces hydrogen from a fuel. The fuel processor comprises a reformer and a heater. The reformer includes a catalyst that facilitates the production of hydrogen from the fuel; the heater provides heat to the reformer. Multipass reformer and heater chambers are described that reduce fuel processor size. Single layer fuel processors include reformer and heater chambers in a compact form factor that is well suited for portable applications. Some fuel processors described herein place an electrically resistive material in contact with a thermally conductive material to heat fuel entering the fuel processor. This is particularly useful during start-up of the fuel processor. Fuel processors described may also include features that facilitate assembly.02-25-2010
