20080275941Service Integration on a Network - Described are computer-based methods and apparatuses, including computer program products, for service integration on a network. Telecommunication services (e.g., calendar, television, phone, location) on a network are integrated using service codelets designed to interface with the services. A default codelet associated with the user (e.g., via a service plan) dynamically calls the service codelets to request information from the associated services (e.g., calendar data) and/or perform tasks with the associated services (e.g., update calendar). The service codelets can dynamically call other service codelets based on the results of their requests for information. The information from the services is integrated and returned to the user.11-06-2008

20110279368INFERRING USER INTENT TO ENGAGE A MOTION CAPTURE SYSTEM - Techniques are provided for inferring a user's intent to interact with an application run by a motion capture system. Deliberate user gestures to interact with the motion capture system are disambiguated from unrelated user motions within the system's field of view. An algorithm may be used to determine the user's aggregated level of intent to engage the system. Parameters in the algorithm may include posture and motion of the user's body, as well as the state of the system. The system may develop a skeletal model to determine the various parameters. If the system determines that the parameters strongly indicate an intent to engage the system, then the system may react quickly. However, if the parameters only weakly indicate an intent to engage the system, it may take longer for the user to engage the system.11-17-2011
20110289455Gestures And Gesture Recognition For Manipulating A User-Interface - Symbolic gestures and associated recognition technology are provided for controlling a system user-interface, such as that provided by the operating system of a general computing system or multimedia console. The symbolic gesture movements in mid-air are performed by a user with or without the aid of an input device. A capture device is provided to generate depth images for three-dimensional representation of a capture area including a human target. The human target is tracked using skeletal mapping to capture the mid-air motion of the user. The skeletal mapping data is used to identify movements corresponding to pre-defined gestures using gesture filters that set forth parameters for determining when a target's movement indicates a viable gesture. When a gesture is detected, one or more pre-defined user-interface control actions are performed.11-24-2011

20090128768Self-planarized passivation dielectric for liquid crystal on silicon structure and related method - According to an exemplary embodiment, a liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) structure includes a number of pixel electrodes overlying an interlayer dielectric, where diagonally adjacent pixel electrodes are separated by a gap. The LCoS structure further includes a self-planarizing passivation dielectric situated over the pixel electrodes and in the gap, where the self-planarizing passivation dielectric has a selected thickness. The self-planarizing passivation dielectric can be an Oxide-Nitride-Oxide (ONO) stack. The selected thickness of the self-planarizing passivation dielectric causes the self-planarizing passivation dielectric to have a substantially planar top surface. In one embodiment, the thickness of the self-planarizing passivation dielectric can be approximately equal to twice a width of the gap.05-21-2009
20090298285Fabricating a Top Conductive Layer in a Semiconductor Die - According to an exemplary embodiment, a method for fabricating a top conductive layer in a semiconductor die includes forming a through-wafer via opening through at least one interlayer dielectric layer in a through-wafer via region of the semiconductor die. The method further includes extending the through-wafer via opening through a substrate of the semiconductor die to reach a target depth. 20100005469Method and System for Defining One Flow Models with Varied Abstractions for Scalable lean Implementations - A method and system for representing one or more families of existing processes in a composite abstraction such that process improvement techniques can be implemented in a more scalable manner. The invention enables abstracting a set of pre-defined process models into a composite model that represents sufficient operational details while being compliant with process improvement techniques such as, but not limited to, Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, and others (collectively “lean” techniques). The invention provides the ability to flexibly represent the operational and lean-related information in varied abstraction levels at different stages of the process as and when necessary. The invention provides the ability to dynamically generate and represent process models based on user-selected defining characteristics (or attributes) used for process “family” formation.
