20090103915Protocol-Less All-Optical 1+1 Bidirectional Revertive Linear Protection System - In an optical network a 1+1 bidirectional protection system is presented. Each node across a link has photodiodes to monitor the power of signals received by the node on receiving working and protection optical fibers and also optical switches connected to transmission working and protection optical fibers to modulate signals to its counterpart node across the link. When a node detects a fault in the receiving working optical fiber, not only does the node switch to the receiving protection optical fiber, but it also switches to the transmission protection optical fiber to signal the fault to the node across the link. The optical switches on transmission working and protection optical fibers allow the two nodes across the link to signal each other at a protocol-less or primary protocol level for the link to revert back to its initial state.04-23-2009

20080224923METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETECTION OF MOVING OBJECTS BY SAR IMAGES - A method for the detection of moving objects by SAR images envisages the steps of: generating a pulse-repetition frequency signal starting from a radar signal; and generating a sequence of SAR images starting from the pulse-repetition frequency signal. In particular, SAR images with low azimuth resolution are generated by of coherent integration of the pulse-repetition frequency signal for a sub-aperture time shorter than an aperture time. In addition, the method envisages generating difference images through point-to-point difference between subsequent low azimuth resolution SAR images, and recognizing patterns associated to moving objects in the difference images.09-18-2008

20080230311Fall-arresting mechanism - For a generally vertical or curved structure, such as a ladder, tower, wall, or pole, which is equipped with a generally vertical or curved rail, a fall-arresting mechanism comprises an upper plate and a lower plate. Each plate has an aperture, through which the generally vertical rail extends. The mechanism further comprises an elongate, linking member, such as a strap, which is connected to one of the upper and lower plates. The upper and lower plates are linked, by a parallelogram linkage on each of two sides, so that the upper plate is pressed against the rail, in a given direction, while the lower plate is pressed against the rail, in an opposite direction, when the elongate, linking member is pulled downwardly or downwardly and away from the rail. The upper and lower plates are biased in the indicated directions. The mechanism further comprises a friction-enhancing wheel, which is biased against the rail.09-25-2008

20080255067CYANOCOBALAMIN LOW VISCOSITY AQUEOUS FORMULATIONS FOR INTRANASAL DELIVERY - A stable pharmaceutical mercury-free aqueous solution of cyanocobalamin comprised of cyanocobalamin and water wherein said solution of cyanocobalamin is suitable for intranasal administration, has a viscosity less than about 1000 cPs, and wherein said solution of cyanocobalamin has a bioavailability of cyanocobalamin when administered intranasally of at least about 7% relative to an intramuscular injection of cyanocobalamin with the proviso that the solution is essentially free of mercury and mercury-containing compounds. The present invention is also directed towards a method for elevating the vitamin B12 levels in the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) comprising administering intranasally a sufficient amount of a mercury-free cyanocobalamin solution so as to increase the average ratio of vitamin B12 in the CSF to that in the blood serum (B12 CSF/B12 Serum×100) to at least about 1.1 comprising intranasally administering an aqueous solution of a cyanocobalamin, wherein said solution of cyanocobalamin has a bioavailability of at least 7% relative to an intramuscular injection of a cyanocobalamin.10-16-2008
