20100026261MULTI-LEVEL SIGNALING - A control circuit generates an output based on the first signal and the second signal by encoding the output to be a multi-state signal having at least three states. A magnitude of the multi-state signal generated by the controller varies depending on binary states of the first signal and the second signal. The controller utilizes the output (i.e., the multi-state signal) to control a switching circuit. A driver circuit receives the output generated by the control circuit. In one embodiment, the multi-state signal has more than two different logic states. The driver decodes the multi-state signal for generating signals to control switches in the switching circuit. One signal generated by the driver circuit is a pulse width modulation signal; another signal generated by the driver circuit is an enable/disable signal.02-04-2010
20100188062HYBRID ANALOG/DIGITAL POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT - According to example configurations as described herein, a power supply system includes a unique circuit including an analog summer circuit, an analog-to-digital converter, and a digital controller. An output voltage feedback control loop of the power supply system feeds back the output voltage to the analog summer circuit. The analog summer circuit generates an analog error voltage signal based on: i) the output voltage received from the output voltage feedback loop, ii) an analog reference voltage signal, and iii) an analog reference voltage adjustment signal. The analog reference voltage adjustment signal varies depending on a magnitude of current provided by the output voltage to the dynamic load. Accordingly, the analog summer circuit can be configured to support adaptive voltage positioning. The analog-to-digital converter converts the analog error voltage signal into a digital error voltage signal. A controller generates output voltage control signal(s) based on the digital error voltage signal.07-29-2010

20110132213Apparatus and Methods for Controlling Application of a Substance to a Substrate - Apparatus and methods for controlling application of a substance to a substrate involve the use of a gating agent that blocks the substance from or attracts the substance to the substrate. The apparatus and methods may utilize ink jet technology to apply the gating agent directly to the substrate or to an intermediate surface. The substance may be an ink, an electrically conductive material, a magnetic material, a carrier for a therapeutic, diagnostic, or marking substance other than an ink, or a carrier for any other type of substance.06-09-2011
20110249057METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSFERRING A PRINCIPAL SUBSTANCE AND PRINTING SYSTEM - A method and apparatus for transferring a principal substance applies the principal substance onto a surface and deposits drops of a gating agent onto a first portion of the principal substance applied to the first surface. The depositing of each drop of gating agent is individually controlled. A second portion of the principal substance not covered by the gating agent is transferred from the first surface to a second surface. A printing system adapted to transfer principal substance from a first surface to a second surface is also disclosed.10-13-2011

20110249047PRINTING SYSTEM, PRODUCTION SYSTEM AND METHOD, AND PRODUCTION APPARATUS - A printing system deposits a principal substance on a surface and further deposits a gating agent on selectable portions of a print medium. A portion of the principal substance is transferred from the surface to the print medium after the gating agent is applied thereto. The gating agent substantially determines where the principal substance is deposited onto the print medium. A production system and method are also disclosed, as is a production apparatus.10-13-2011

20080253942Method and Apparatus for Application of Electrostatic Charges to Compounds Held Within Containers - A method and apparatus for application of electrostatic charges to compounds to change the physical characteristics of the compounds. The compound is located within a container, that can be sealed or open, in proximity to an electrode so that there is capacitive coupling between the electrode and the compound. A high frequency, high voltage signal is applied to the electrode for a time sufficient to increase negative ions in the compound, thus changing its physical characteristics. The method can increase the pH and decreases oxidation-reduction potential. A grounded platform is provided for use with a non-conductive container, and the entire apparatus can be provided in a housing enclosure to permit safe application of electrical potential to the compound being treated.10-16-2008
20110111475Biological/Electrolytic Conversion of Biomass to Hydrocarbons - Hydrocarbon and hydrogen fuels and other products may be produced by a process employing a combination of fermentation and electrochemical stages. In the process, a biomass contained within a fermentation medium is fermented with an inoculum comprising a mixed culture of microorganisms derived the rumen contents of a rumen-containing animal. This inoculated medium is incubated under anaerobic conditions and for a sufficient time to produce volatile fatty acids. The resultant volatile fatty acids are then subjected to electrolysis under conditions effective to convert said volatile fatty acids to hydrocarbons and hydrogen simultaneously. The process can convert a wide range of biomass materials to a wide range of volatile fatty acid chain lengths and can convert these into a wide range of biobased fuels and biobased products.05-12-2011
