In one embodiment, a carbon fiber substrate is dipped in a solution including the fluorocarbon particles and a surfactant. The wet and coated substrate is then dried using the microwave radiation, where the frequency of the microwave radiation is varied to increase or control the dispersion of the fluorocarbon particles and the hydrophobicity of the diffusion media. In one embodiment, the microwave radiation is varied in frequency between 500 MHz and 1000 GHZ.08-27-2009

The intersticial regions between the crystallites contains amorphous material containing precursors to electrically conductive polymers and/or electrically conductive polymers. The degree of crystallinity is achieved by preparing the materials under conditions which provide a high degree of mobility to the polymer molecules permitting them to associate with one another to form a crystalline state. This is preferable achieved by including additives, such as plasticizers and diluents, to the solution from which the polycrystalline material is formed. The morphology of the polycrystalline material is adjustable to modify the properties of the material such as the degree of crystallinity, crystal grain size, glass transition temperature, thermal coefficient of expansion and degree of electrical conductivity. High levels of electrical conductivity are achieved in in the electrically conductive polycrystalline materials without stretch orienting the material. The lens optic can have a compressed geometry, an uncompressed geometry including an aberration, and a desired geometry. The compressed geometry can be the desired geometry. The aberration can be astigmatism, coma, or spherical aberration. For instance, the aberration can be astigmatism of about 0.17 D at the spectacle plane and of about 0.25 D at the intraocular lens plane. Moreover, the haptics can define a first axis between the haptics; the lens optic can define a second axis perpendicular to the first axis; and the uncompressed geometry can differ from the compressed geometry in the vicinity of the second axis.08-19-2010
