High speed gear coupler - The coupling apparatus includes a gear shaft, including a sun gear at one shaft end for connecting to a reduction gear box. The sun gear drives a planetary gear train inside the gearbox. The coupling apparatus has outer splines on the gear shaft other end that mesh with inner splines of a ring gear connected to a coupling flange member by bolts and nuts. The flange member transmits high torque from a high speed turbine shaft to the gear shaft through the intermeshed splines. The teeth of the inner and outer splines are kept lubricated from a stationary spray source on the turbine side via an oil catcher mounted on the flange member opposed to the ring gear. The flow of lubricating oil during operation is from the oil catcher, through holes in the flange member, and to the intermeshed splines. Both oil catcher and ring gear are centered by a rim positioned on the flange member. | 04-07-2011

Adjustable compressor bleed system and method - An adjustable bleed apparatus and method for bleeding air to or from the impeller inlet region of a centrifugal compressor through a segmented annular bleed slot. An annular support member, connected to the fixed intake casing, supports a downstream annular shroud segment and an upstream annular shroud segment such that the downstream end of the downstream shroud segment is unconstrained. The spaced-apart distance between the shroud segments defines an annular bleed slot, which is segmented by bridge members. The connections between the shroud segments and the annular support member are configured such that the spaced apart distance of the annular bleed slot is adjustable. The connections between the annular support member and the fixed intake casing are configured such that the running clearance between the downstream shroud segment and the impeller is adjustable independently from the width of bleed slot. | 09-17-2009

Transfer apparatus - A transfer apparatus is disclosed for transferring a light weight web from a dewatering section to a Yankee dryer. The transfer apparatus includes a looped transfer blanket which is disposed between the dewatering section and the Yankee dryer for supporting and transporting the web from the dewatering section towards the Yankee dryer. The dewatering section includes a press which defines a press nip for the passage therethrough of the web. The press nip assists in dewatering the web and guides the web. A press felt extends through the press nip and the transfer blanket also extends through the press nip. A roll is disposed downstream relative to the press nip for transferring the web from the transfer blanket and for guiding the web towards the Yankee dryer. | 06-16-2011

Suction Tube Device Provided with Drive Systems and Method of Repairing Same - A suction tube device having a frame, a tube, a centrifugal pump which cooperates with the tube, and a cutter head at one end of the tube. The tube, centrifugal pump, and cutter head are supported by the frame. The centrifugal pump and the cutter head are each provided with a drive system, the drive systems of the centrifugal pump and of the cutter head each having at least one motor. A motor of the drive system of the cutter head and a motor of the drive system of the centrifugal pump are interchangeable with respect to each other. | 10-01-2009

Dairy Ingredient - Preparation and Use - The invention provides a method for producing a dairy powder or a dairy concentrate. The pH of a liquid dairy starting material comprising casein and whey proteins is adjusted if necessary by addition of acid or alkali to a pH in the range 5.0-8.0. The pH adjusted material is then heat-treated to denature whey protein in the presence of casein. This treated material is either retained or dried to form a powder or as a dairy concentrate. The product may be used in a method for forming a product such as a processed cheese, a processed cheese-like product, a spread, a yoghurt or a dairy dessert. In this method, the product is dissolved/suspended (if necessary) and undergoes pH adjustment to a pH in the range 4.5-6.5. The material may be cooked to form a molten mass which is subsequently cooled to form a milk protein gel. | 12-11-2008
Dairy Product and Process - Processed cheese is prepared in a process where the ingredients include at least 0.5% non-denatured whey protein concentrate and at least 0.5% denatured whey protein concentrate. The method can be used to prepared processed cheese with improved melting characteristics. | 03-04-2010
