20090038585Hybrid Vehicle Propulsion System Utilizing Knock Suppression - A hybrid vehicle propulsion system and method of operation have been provided. As one example, the system comprises an internal combustion engine including at least a combustion chamber configured to propel the vehicle via at least a drive wheel, a motor configured to propel the vehicle via at least a drive wheel, an energy storage device configured to store energy that is usable by the motor to propel the vehicle, a fuel system configured to deliver gasoline and alcohol to the combustion chamber in varying relative amounts, a control system configured to operate the motor to propel the vehicle and to vary the relative amounts of the gasoline and alcohol provided to the combustion chamber in response to an output of the motor.02-12-2009
20090038586Hybrid Vehicle Propulsion System Utilizing Knock Suppression - A hybrid propulsion system for a vehicle and method of operation are provided. As one example, the system comprises an engine including at least one combustion chamber, a motor configured to selectively propel the vehicle via the drive wheel, a fuel system configured to deliver a first substance and a second substance to the combustion chamber in varying relative amounts, wherein the first substance includes a fuel and the second substance includes a greater concentration of a knock suppressing substance than the first substance; and a control system configured to operate the fuel system to vary the relative amounts of the first substance and the second substance delivered to the combustion chamber in response to an operating condition while operating the motor to propel the vehicle.02-12-2009

20100296505MOBILE DEVICE POLLING FOR MEDIA CONTENT SELECTION AND PRESENTATION CONTROL - Mobile device polling is disclosed. A content polling system includes a content polling module configured to transmit a content polling request to participant mobile devices that is executable by each participant mobile device to return a content polling response to the content polling module. The content polling module is further configured to receive the content polling response from each participant mobile device that indicates an attribute of one or more media content items stored at or previously accessed via that participant mobile device. The content polling module is further configured to transmit a content selection request to a content selection module that indicates the attributes of the content polling responses. The content selection request is executable by the content selection module to return a content selection response indicating selected media content that was selected by the content selection module based on the attributes indicated by the content selection request.11-25-2010

20090321159PLUG-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE - A vehicle propulsion system and a method of its operation are described. As one example, the vehicle propulsion system includes a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. The method may include: producing a motor output by selectively operating the motor to consume electrical energy stored on-board the vehicle; producing an engine output by selectively operating the engine to consume fuel stored on-board the vehicle; and increasing consumption of the fuel by the engine relative to consumption of the electrical energy by the motor as a residence time of the fuel stored on-board the vehicle increases. The residence time of the fuel stored on-board the vehicle can provide an indication of fuel degradation, enabling the duty cycle of the engine to be selectively increased to enforce fuel use conditions, particularly in the context of a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle where fuel use may be less frequent.12-31-2009
20090321164PLUG-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE - A method of operating a vehicle propulsion system including a motor and an engine, the method comprising of producing a motor output by selectively operating the motor to consume electrical energy stored on-board the vehicle, the motor driving the vehicle; producing an engine output by selectively operating the engine to consume fuel stored on-board the vehicle; and increasing consumption of the fuel by the engine by operating the engine based on a residence time of the fuel stored on-board the vehicle and further based on a profile of ambient conditions over the residence time.12-31-2009
