20110004298ANNULOPLASTY APPARATUS AND METHODS - An annuloplasty system for repairing a valve in a patient's heart comprises a surgical implant including a member having first and second end portions. The implant member further is configured and/or adapted to form a partial ring along a portion of one of the valve annulae of a patient's heart such as the mitral or tricuspid valve annulus. The implant member is axially elastic such that it can axially expand and contract and includes first and second anchors extending from the end portions of the implant member. The anchors are adapted to anchor the implant in tissue such as the mitral or tricuspid valve annulus. The system can facilitate tissue plication (e.g., of the posterior annulus of the mitral valve or the annulus of the tricuspid valve) and reinforcement of a valve annulus.01-06-2011

20100298942Expandable Vertebral Prosthesis - The present invention relates to an expandable prosthetic implant device for engagement between vertebrae generally comprising an inner member, outer member, and gear member positioned coaxial with respect to each other such that the inner and outer members are moveable relative to each other along an axis. The gear member is axially fixed to the outer member and freely rotatable with respect to the outer member and the gear member threadedly engages a threaded portion of the inner member to translate inner member along the axis. The implant is configured to engage the vertebrae in a predetermined alignment and the gear member includes gear teeth exposed to the exterior and configured to be accessible by a tool member at a plurality of angular positions around the perimeter of the implant device.11-25-2010
20100331901Percutaneous Vertebral Stabilization System - The present invention relates to a system for percutaneously installing a vertebral stabilization system. A first anchor is positionable within a body of a patient through a first percutaneous opening and a second anchor is positionable within a body of a patient through a second percutaneous opening. A stabilization member is positionable within the body of a patient through the first percutaneous opening to engage and connect the first and second anchors.12-30-2010

20100116343VALVES AND RESERVOIRS FOR MICROFLUIDIC SYSTEMS - A microfluidic valve assembly includes a structure defining a microfluidic fluid path and an actuator that can be moved between different positions controlling flow through the channel. In one embodiment, the actuator can be threaded into at least a portion of the structure, and can be moved rotationally between a first position, causing relatively greater constriction of a microfluidic fluid path, and a second position causing relatively lesser constriction of the fluid path. Actuating the actuator, e.g., by rotation, can deform material between the valve and the fluid path, thereby constricting at least a portion of the underlying fluid path and regulating the flow of a fluid in the fluid path. In another aspect, the invention provides a reservoir into which fluid can be placed and from which fluid can be introduced into a microfluidic system. In one embodiment, the reservoir is expandable and thereby able to store fluid under pressure for delivery to a microfluidic system.05-13-2010

20100042835SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PERMISSION CONFIRMATION BY TRANSMITTING A SECURE REQUEST THROUGH A CENTRAL SERVER TO A MOBILE BIOMETRIC DEVICE - A system for permission confirmation incorporates a terminal device for transmitting an authorization request on a network. The terminal device includes capability for encryption of the request and for decryption of a response. A request arbitrating server (RAS) is connected to the network for receiving the authorization request from the terminal device. The RAS incorporates capability for decryption of the request from the terminal display and determines an authorizing party responsive to the request. The RAS then has capability for encryption of a request to an authorizing party for transmission on the network, and, for decryption of a response and biometric data from the authorizing party. The RAS has capability to confirm biometric data received and encrypt a response to the terminal device. A user biometric device (UBD) is connected to the network having capability for receiving an authorization request from the RAS and decrypting the request. A display for the decrypted request and a sensor for entry of biometric data along with an input device for entry of a response to the request is incorporated in the UBD. The UBD provides capability for encrypting the biometric data and response and transmission of the encrypted biometric data and response to the network for receipt by the RAS.02-18-2010

20110216498COMPUTER EQUIPPED WITH A FAN RACK TO FACILITATE ASSEMBLY AND DISASSEMBLY OF HARD DISKS - A computer equipped with a fan rack aims to facilitate disassembly and assembly of hard disks. The computer includes a casing, a panel located at the front side of the casing and a plurality of side panels on various sides of the casing. The casing has a hard disk installation section. The panel has a hard disk replacing opening corresponding to the hard disk installation section. The panel hinges at least one fan rack corresponding to the hard disk installation section. The fan rack holds at least one fan. The fan provides cooling airflow to the hard disk installed on the hard disk installation section. The fan rack can be opened or closed by pivoting so that the hard disk can be plugged, unplugged or displaced without relying on any tools.09-08-2011
20110216499COMPUTER HOT-PLUG STRUCTURE - A computer hot-plug structure allows a hard disk to be connected to a computer in a hot-plug fashion. The computer has a casing and a plurality of side panels surrounding various sides of the casing. Each side panel has a thread-hole and a hood covering the thread-hole. The hood has a top portion and two flanks at two ends of the top portion to form a housing space for plugging and unplugging of the hard disk. The housing space has one end formed an insertion slot to receive the hard disk and a hot-plug connector at another end. The hot-plug connector has a first connection port connected to the hard disk and a second connection port electrically connected to the computer through a transmission line passing through the thread-hole. Thus the hard disk is held on the outer side of the computer to save the interior space of the computer.09-08-2011
