20090233611Trace Log Management in a Mobile Communication System - A first radio base station (RBS) is operated to cause trace log information to be supplied to a trace log storage node. The RBS becomes responsible for serving a user equipment session, and at some point begins a trace process. When the session report criterion has been satisfied, a trace status indication is alternatively sent to or received from a second radio base station, the trace status indication including an indicator of a session report cause and a time of satisfying the session report criterion. The indicator of the session report cause and the time of satisfying the session report criterion are used to identify a set of trace log information stored in a record buffer. If not empty, the set of trace log information is supplied to the trace log storage node.09-17-2009
20090323965Systems and Methods for Monitoring Performance of a Communication System - Monitoring the performance of communication systems is an important part of network operations. In one aspect the invention provides a method for monitoring the performance by collecting data pertaining to a mobile terminal accessing the system. In some embodiments, the method includes receiving an identifier for identifying the mobile terminal; using the identifier to detect the UE accessing the network via an access point; and in response to detecting the UE accessing the network, transmitting to the access point a message comprising an encrypted version of the identifier with a command to initiate the collection of data pertaining to the mobile terminal.12-31-2009
20100074227METHOD AND A NETWORK NODE FOR CONTROLLING OUTPUT UPLINK AND DOWNLINK POWER LEVELS IN A MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM - The present inventions relates to a method and a network node for controlling an output uplink power level of a mobile station and for controlling an output downlink power level of a target base station in a target cell of a mobile communications system. The method comprises receiving at the network node a message indicating that a handover of the mobile station from an originating cell to the target cell is completed; and commanding the target base station to use an initial output downlink power level and the mobile station to use an initial output uplink power level, wherein the initial output downlink power level and the initial output uplink power level are based on at least previous power control levels used a time after previous handovers were completed between the originating cell and the target cell.03-25-2010
20100080125Edge Continued Evolution, Improved Channel Request Method And System - The present invention is a method and system adapted to facilitate, between a mobile station (MS) and network, an indication of support for reduced time transmission interval (RTTI). The MS can provide a base station system (BSS) with an indication of its multislot capability within an access burst sent at the start of a contention based access. In another aspect, the MS can indicate support for a new Immediate Assignment message as the conventional Immediate Assignment message can only assign single timeslots. The present invention enables the Radio Access Network (RAN) to assign RTTI and more than one timeslot for GPRS/EDGE temporary block flows (TBFs) during an Access Grant Channel (AGCH) assignment. The method of the present invention can be implemented in a computer program product or distributed software adapted to be loaded into at least one or a plurality of memory locations and executed by at least one or a plurality of respective computer processors.04-01-2010
20100136989Method and Radio Base Station for Effective Spectrum Utilization - The present invention relates to radio communication in a cellular network and in particular to the sharing of a frequency spectrum with another network. The object is to enable robust communication in the shared band. The solution is to allocate a third band for communication in a cell. A L1/L2 control channel may be transmitted in the third band only, whereas data can be transmitted in the shared band. The L1/L2 control channel support the data communication in the shared band. The invention relates to a method and a radio base station.06-03-2010
20100180044Bit Streams Combination Of Downloaded Multimedia Files - A method for downloading a multimedia file from a server (07-15-2010
20100214935PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT - A controlling node for a cell in a cellular system, arranged to measure a performance indicator of the communication between the node and at least one user and to aggregate the measured performance indicator for at least one user over an amount of time. The performance indicator is measured as the amount of data bits successfully transferred as data blocks in uplink and/or downlink between the controlling node and the at least one user during said defined amount of time, divided by the number of smallest physical resources in the system in terms of time and frequency used during said defined amount of time. One or more predefined combinations of one or more data blocks and one or more said smallest physical resources in the system is/are excluded from the aggregated measurement.08-26-2010
20100248739Dynamic Frequency Band Allocation between Radio Communication Networks - The present invention relates to cellular communications and in particular to a frequency spectrum shared by two cellular networks. The object is flexible utilization of the spectrum. This is achieved by a method wherein a first of the networks occupies part of the shared spectrum in relation to the traffic load in the first network. The first network informs a second of the networks on the extent the shared spectrum is occupied, for the second network to be free to use the shared spectrum outside the occupied part. The invention also relates to a RRM unit arranged for carrying out the inventions, to a BSC and to a radio base station adapted for carrying out the method. One advantage is that spectrum can be lent from an old system when a new system is introduced.09-30-2010
20100278038Method and Apparatus for Mitigating Cell Outage - Cell outage within a wireless communication network is automatically mitigated. This way, neither manual operator intervention nor manual base station reconfiguration is needed to cover problematic cells. Quality of wireless services provided by the network improves when cell outage is automatically mitigated. In one embodiment, cell outage is mitigated in a wireless communication network by automatically communicating cell status messages between radio base stations or within a node that controls the radio base stations (11-04-2010
20100291914SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION BETWEEN RADIO BASE STATIONS - A method of operating a telecommunications network (11-18-2010
20110032816Connection Failure Notification Method And Apparatus - An access point according to the present invention generates and broadcasts a notification message to the mobile devices serviced by an access point upon detection of a connection failure between the serving access point and a network node. The notification message controls the impact of the connection failure on neighboring cells by including redirect information that identifies one or more alternate access points for the affected mobile devices. The affected mobile devices subsequently attempt to access the access points identified by the redirect information. The notification message may also include timing information that informs the affected mobile devices when they may attempt to access an alternate access point identified by the redirect information.02-10-2011
