20080319105CRASH DURABLE EPOXY ADHESIVES WITH VERY LOW SENSITIVITY TO TEMPERATURE VARIATIONS - Epoxy adhesive compositions contain an epoxy resin, rubber modification, a toughener and a curing agent. The tougher has capped epoxide-reactive groups, and at least one polytetrahydrofuran block having a mass of 2200-4500 daltons. The selection of toughener in a rubber-modified epoxy-based structural adhesive provides for very good low temperature performance.12-25-2008
20090048370TWO PART CRASH DURABLE EPOXY ADHESIVES - Two-component epoxy-based structural adhesives are disclosed which exhibit excellent impact resistance, even when cured at approximately room temperature. The adhesives include an epoxy resin component which includes an epoxy resin and a reactive tougher. The adhesives also include a hardener component, which includes from 15 to 50 weight percent of an amine-terminated polyether, from 4 to 40 weight percent of an amine terminated rubber having a glass transition temperature of −40° C. or below, and from 10 to 30 weight percent of an amine-terminated polyamide having a melting temperature of no greater than 50° C.02-19-2009

20110297317ONE-PART STRUCTURAL EPOXY RESIN ADHESIVES CONTAINING DIMERIZED FATTY ACID/EPOXY RESIN ADDUCT AND A POLYOL - Structural adhesives containing a non-rubber-modified epoxy resin, an elastomeric toughener and a curing agent further include an epoxy-functional fatty acid oligomer and a polyol. The presence of the epoxy-functional fatty acid oligomer and a semi-crystalline or crystalline polyester polyol in combination increase the storage stability of the structural adhesive.12-08-2011

20080264184Wireless Sensors in Roll Covers - An industrial roll includes: a substantially cylindrical shell having an outer surface; a polymeric cover circumferentially overlying the shell outer surface; and a sensing system. The sensing system includes: a plurality of sensors embedded in the cover, each sensor configured to sense a data parameter; and a plurality of wireless transceivers, each transceiver connected to a respective sensor and embedded in the cover adjacent thereto. Each wireless transceiver is configured to transmit data signals from the respective sensor. Related methods and systems are also discussed.10-30-2008
20090205818DOWNWELL SYSTEM WITH SWELLABLE PACKER INCLUDING BLOWING AGENT - A downwell packer assembly includes a tubular member and a packer element mounted on the tubular member. The packer element comprises a composition that includes a polymer. The packer element includes micropores (typically created via a blowing agent). When the packer element is exposed to a swelling fluid, such as water or hydrocarbon, the micropores can help to control and, in some instances, increase the rate of swelling. Such swelling enables the packer element to form a seal against the walls of the wellbore.08-20-2009
20090205841DOWNWELL SYSTEM WITH ACTIVATABLE SWELLABLE PACKER - A packer system for a wellbore includes a tubular member and a packer element having an inner layer that circumferentially overlies the tubular member and an outer layer that circumferentially overlies the inner layer. The inner layer includes an elastomer that swells upon contact with a swelling fluid. The outer layer includes a material that provides at least a partial barrier to the swelling fluid.08-20-2009
20090205842ON-SITE ASSEMBLABLE PACKER ELEMENT FOR DOWNWELL PACKING SYSTEM - A packer system for a wellbore includes: a tubular member; a packer element mounted on the tubular member and formed of a swellable polymeric material; and a securing unit that is configured to enable the position of the packer element to be adjusted relative to the tubular member when the securing unit is in an unsecured condition, but secures the packer element in place when the securing unit is in a secured condition.08-20-2009

20080267927Methods for improving cell therapy and tissue regeneration in patients with cardiovascular diseases by means of shockwaves - Improving cell therapy and tissue regeneration in a patient suffering from a cardiovascular or a neurological disease by treating a tissue of the patient with shock waves and/or applying to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of stem cells and/or progenitor cells. Such treatment increases expression of chemoattractants, pro-angiogenic factors, and pro-survival factors. The chemoattractants can be, for example, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) or stromal cell derived factor 1 (SDF-1). For example, the treated tissue can be located in the patient's heart or in a skeletal muscle of the patient, and the shock waves can be extracorporeal shock waves (ESW) or intracorporeal shock waves. The cardiovascular disease can have an ischemic or non-ischemic etiology. For example, the cardiovascular disease can be a myocardial infarction, ischemic cardiomyopathy, or a dilatative cardiomyopathy. For example, the neurological disease can be a peripheral neuropathy or neuropathic pain.10-30-2008

20080251202HEAT-RESISTANT STRUCTURAL EPOXY RESINS - Epoxy adhesive compositions containing a rubber-modified epoxy resin contain a bisphenol. The bisphenol can be pre-reacted with the rubber-modified epoxy resin to advance the resin. The adhesives are resistant to thermal degradation as can occur in so-called “overbake” conditions, in which the adhesive is heated to high temperatures for prolonged periods of time. In addition, expanded microballoons are included in epoxy structural adhesives to promote a desired fracture mode.10-16-2008

20080251203Structural Epoxy Resins Containing Core-Shell Rubbers - Core-shell rubbers are incorporated into epoxy adhesives. The adhesives are structural type adhesives that contain an epoxy resin and a toughener, and may contain a liquid rubber in addition to the core-shell rubber. The adhesives have good modulus and tensile strength, which are obtained without loss of elongation and adhesive properties.10-16-2008

20110126981ONE-PART STRUCTURAL EPOXY RESIN ADHESIVES CONTAINING ELASTOMERIC TOUGHENERS CAPPED WITH PHENOLS AND HYDROXY-TERMINATED ACRYLATES OR HYDROXY-TERMINATED METHACRYLATES - Structural adhesives are prepared from an elastomeric toughener that contains urethane and/or urea groups, and have some terminal isocyanate groups that are capped with a phenol and other terminal isocyanate groups that are capped with a hydroxy-functional acrylate or a hydroxy-functional methacrylate. In certain embodiments, the presence of both types of capping on the toughener leads to higher impact peel strengths and a greater level of cohesive failure, than when the toughener is capped with a phenol an hydroxy-functional acrylate or hydroxy-functional methacrylate alone.06-02-2011
