20110163236Scintillation-Cherenkov Detector and Method for High Energy X-Ray Cargo Container Imaging and Industrial Radiography - An inspection system, and corresponding methods, employing a detector for characterizing high energy penetrating radiation transmitted through an inspected object. The detector produces a detector signal that is due to both scintillation and Cherenkov processes. The scintillation and Cherenkov components of the detector signal are discriminated and processed to obtain separate measures of relative attenuation of higher and lower energy penetrating radiation in a target intervening between a source of penetrating radiation and the detector. In certain embodiments of the invention, scintillation and Cherenkov components of a detector signal are discriminated on the basis of distinct spectral features, or, alternatively, by processing temporal characteristics of the signal of a single photodetector.07-07-2011

20100006981CAPACITANCE ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD RELATING THERETO - A capacitance arrangement comprising at least one parallel-plate capacitor comprising a first electrode means, a dielectric layer and a second electrode means partly overlapping each other. A misalignment limit is given. Said first electrode means comprises a first and a second electrode arranged symmetrically with respect to a longitudinal axis, said first and second electrodes have a respective first edge, which face each other, are linear and parallel such that a gap is defined there between. Said second electrode means comprises a third electrode with a first section and a second section disposed on opposite sides of said gap interconnected by means of an intermediate section, which is delimited by a function depending on a first parameter and a second parameter. One of said two parameters is adapted to be selected hence allowing calculation of the other parameter to determine the shape and size of the second electrode means.01-14-2010

20080197947Method to Increase the Tuneability of Varactors - The present invention relates to a tunable circuit, or admittance, arrangement comprising at least one capacitive branch with at least a tunable first capacitor, and tuning application means. It further comprises at least one resonant branch comprising at least a second capacitor and an inductor, said second capacitor and said inductor being connected in series. Said at least one capacitive branch and said at least one resonant branch are connected in parallel, and said tuning application means are adapted for application of a DC tuning voltage. The capacitance of said first and/or second capacitor and/or the inductance of said inductor are selected such that the frequency dependency of the tunability of a varactor arrangement forming the equivalent varactor arrangement of the admittance arrangement can be controlled at least in a selected frequency range.08-21-2008

20110215228LARGE AREA PHOTO DETECTOR - The invention discloses a photo detector with first and second groups of electrodes. The electrodes of each group are connected to a first common conductor for the group, and are located on a layer of photosensitive material. The electrodes are parallel to and interlaced with each other. The first common conductors are essentially plane, arranged at the same end of their group of electrodes, and arranged as upper and lower conductors parallel to and overlapping each other separated by a dielectric material, and form a signal electrode and a ground plane of a first microstrip line. The first microstrip line acts as a first combiner for currents induced in the electrodes of the two groups and as a matching network for the electrodes and for a load which can be connected to the photo detector.09-08-2011

20080302042Environmental parquet and strip/plank system for flooring, walls and ceilings - Parquet and strip/plank is unfinished 7/16″ thick solid straight edge construction assembled with a pressure-sensitive adhesive covered transparent non-shrinkable or non-expandable plastic tape on the top. It takes at least 6.6 times less amount of timber to produces this product versus traditional ¾″ thick tongue-and-grooved solid flooring. Strait edged (no tongue-and-grooved) construction is installed with rigid adhesive. The spaces between the floor and walls are filled with adhesive as well. Jobsite finish provides a product with a barrier against water, germs, bacteria and other micro organisms' penetration, creating a healthy indoor air quality conditions. Installed parquet or strip/plank flooring system is non-destructible and eliminates landfill waste. Installation over radiant heated floor provides a significant saving in energy consumption. Proposed distribution system: developer/customer-parquet or strip/plank flooring manufacturer—and manufacturer's approved installer allows a creation of product custom designed for a project.12-11-2008

20110194548Method And Apparatus For Cellular Communication Over Data Networks - Cellular signals or other wireless signals/messages are introduced into a building or to an outside location by transmitting packets corresponding to those signals over a data network and low cost cables to designated locations within the data network. Once the designated packets containing the signals reach the destination, they are then broadcast over the air to a terminal capable of receiving the wireless message. In a first embodiment, an in-building gigabit Ethernet network, such as that currently existing presently in many buildings, is used to distribute radio signals indoors. Instead of transmitting the radio signals over the air from a repeater connected to a base station, coded baseband signals generated by the coding processor (e.g., a CDMA Modem Unit) in the base station are packetized and sent over the Ethernet network to radio processing equipment and antennas distributed throughout the building. The radio processing equipment strips the packet headers from the baseband signal packets so those signals can be broadcast via the antennas to one or more mobile terminals.08-11-2011
