20080198810 | METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR BROADCAST OPTIMIZATION IN MOBILE IP - Methods and apparatus for supporting broadcast traffic in Mobile IP are disclosed. When a Mobile Node registers via a Foreign Agent supporting Mobile IP, the Foreign Agent receives a registration request from a Mobile Node and sends the registration request to a Home Agent. A registration reply received from the Home Agent has a network mask extension including a network mask associated with the home address of the Mobile Node. The Foreign Agent then sends the registration reply to the Mobile Node. Alternatively, the Mobile Node may register via a collocated care-of address, in which case the registration reply is received directly from the Home Agent. Once the Mobile Node has obtained its network mask, it may send packets such as broadcast packets, as well as roam to its Home Agent. Additionally, in accordance with various embodiments, the Foreign Agent duplicates broadcast packets for transmission to Mobile Nodes, rather than receiving the duplicated packets from the Home Agent. In this manner, broadcast traffic in a Mobile IP environment is optimized. | 08-21-2008 |
20080244086 | Identifying network path including network proxies - A method and system for identifying a network path between a source node and a destination node are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes generating a proxy trace message at the source node, transmitting the proxy trace message over the network path towards the destination node, and receiving the proxy trace message at the source node. The proxy trace message follows a path taken by application messages transmitted by the source node and the received proxy trace message includes addresses of the destination node and proxies in the network path. | 10-02-2008 |
20090104895 | DYNAMIC CONTACT LIST - In one embodiment, a system receives a user calling attribute and determines current information of a telephone. The system generates a dynamic contact list based on the user calling attribute and the current information. | 04-23-2009 |
20090144809 | INFRASTRUCTURE-LESS BOOTSTRAPPING: TRUSTLESS BOOTSTRAPPING TO ENABLE MOBILITY FOR MOBILE DEVICES - Methods and apparatus for supporting a session in Mobile IP are disclosed. A Mobile Node sends a first Mobile IP message identifying the Mobile Node to a Home Agent, wherein the first Mobile IP message indicates to the Home Agent that the Mobile Node is requesting dynamic configuration of a Mobile-Home authentication key to be shared between the Mobile Node and the Home Agent during the session. A Mobile-Home authentication key to be shared between the Home Agent and the Mobile Node is obtained or generated by the Mobile Node and the Home Agent, where the Mobile-Home authentication key is not valid after the session has ended or during another session. The Home Agent sends a second Mobile IP message to the Mobile Node, the second Mobile IP message including a lifetime associated with the session, wherein the lifetime indicates a lifetime of the key, thereby enabling the Mobile Node to register with the Home Agent using the Mobile-Home authentication key to be shared between the Home Agent and the Mobile Node during the session. | 06-04-2009 |
20100166179 | METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR BOOTSTRAPPING MOBILE-FOREIGN AND FOREIGN-HOME AUTHENTICATION KEYS IN MOBILE IP - Methods and apparatus for dynamically generating authentication keys are disclosed. Specifically, a Mobile-Foreign authentication key is separately generated by both the Mobile Node and Foreign Agent. Similarly, a Foreign-Home authentication key is separately generated by the Foreign Agent and the Home Agent. In accordance with one embodiment, generation of the Mobile-Foreign authentication key and Foreign-Home authentication key are accomplished via the Diffie-Hellman key generation scheme. | 07-01-2010 |
20110026488 | METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR ACHIEVING ROUTE OPTIMIZATION AND LOCATION PRIVACY IN AN IPV6 NETWORK - Methods and apparatus for performing proxy registration on behalf of a node with a Home Agent supporting Mobile IP are disclosed. A first registration request is composed on behalf of the node and transmitted to the Home Agent via a first Local Mobility Anchor, wherein the first Local Mobility Anchor is a regional controller via which registration is performed when the node moves within a region associated with the first Local Mobility Anchor. When the node moves within a region or between regions, the node is re-registered. Specifically, a second registration request is composed and transmitted to the first Local Mobility Anchor when the node moves within the region associated with the first Local Mobility Anchor. When the node moves into a second region associated with a second Local Mobility Anchor and outside the first region associated with the first Local Mobility Anchor, a second registration request is composed and transmitted to the Home Agent via the second Local Mobility Anchor, wherein the second Local Mobility Anchor is a regional controller via which registration is performed when the node moves within a region associated with second first Local Mobility Anchor. | 02-03-2011 |

20120281612 | METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR BROADCAST OPTIMIZATION IN MOBILE IP - In accordance with various embodiments, a Home Agent receives a registration request and sends a registration reply having a network mask extension including a network mask associated with the home address of the Mobile Node. Once the Mobile Node has obtained its network mask, it may send packets such as broadcast packets, as well as roam to its Home Agent. Additionally, in accordance with various embodiments, when a Home Agent receives a broadcast packet, it forwards the broadcast packet to a care-of address of the broadcast packet without duplicating the broadcast packet. Instead, the Foreign Agent obtains the subnet from the broadcast packet, identifies the Mobile Node(s) on that subnet, and duplicates the broadcast packet for transmission to the identified Mobile Node(s). | 11-08-2012 |
