20090052592Method and Arrangement for Recovering a Binary DC-Free Code From a Frequency Modulated Signal - The invention is related to a method and an arrangement for recovering a binary DC-free code from a frequency-modulated signal, without any analog signal demodulation of the frequency-modulated signal. The invention relates more particularly to an ATIP bi-phase channel bit and timing recovery in a deteriorated wobble channel as e.g. required for high speed recording on optical storage media. The arrangement comprises a digital phase lock loop and a phase detector uses a phase trellis and a maximum likelihood detection is applied to the phase trellis for providing a bi-phase channel bit signal and a bi-phase clock signal, which is in time with the sampling point for the bi-phase channel bit signal for recovering said binary code. The invention is also applicable for further data transmission systems based on frequency modulation as e.g. modem or wireless data communication systems.02-26-2009

20100076984SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR QUERY EXPANSION USING TOOLTIPS - A system and method for query expansion allows the refinement and expansion of a keyword query search by combining a key concept with semantically related concepts proposed by the system and associated with that key concept. The semantically related concepts may be grouped together in a cluster, which is then presented to the user in the form of a tooltip. Once a semantically related concept is selected from the cluster, a new search is launched. This new search may use as query terms the combination of at least part of the key concept and the selected semantically related concept to thereby expand the original search.03-25-2010
20100077001SEARCH SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SERENDIPITOUS DISCOVERIES WITH FACETED FULL-TEXT CLASSIFICATION - A search system and method for uncovering unexpected links between different concepts related to a user's query during a search comprise a semantic indexing server, which builds a faceted classification index of text objects, and a query server, which receives and analyzes the user's query. A query thus processed is then sent from the query server to the semantic indexing server through an interface in order to perform a search in the faceted classification index. The search system and method further comprise a result handler, which provides the user with a search result set comprising a list of unexpected links and a list of result elements. The list of unexpected links corresponds to filters which allow the user to narrow down or refine the original query.03-25-2010

20110047159SYSTEM, METHOD, AND APPARATUS FOR MULTIDIMENSIONAL EXPLORATION OF CONTENT ITEMS IN A CONTENT STORE - A computer-implemented method for accessing content items in a content store are described. In one embodiment, the computer-implemented method includes maintaining a text index of content items in a content store to enable a keyword search on the content items, receiving a query having a keyword and generating a hit list from the text index using the keyword, and extracting frequent phrases from text within content items of the hit list. The computer-implemented method also includes assigning a relative relevance to the frequent phrases and grouping content items into topics based on presence of relevant phrases within the content items of the hit list. The hit list includes one or more content items of the content store. The frequent phrases having a relatively high relevance are relevant phrases.02-24-2011

20090271337APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INPUT AND OUTPUT TO PROCESS TO BE OPTIMIZED - A computer system includes an optimization component for optimizing a solution to a problem using a computer and a display. The display includes a first user interface component adapted to elicit and receive information from a user. The computer system also includes a conversion component for converting the at least one of the plurality of constraints which has been selected to an input to the optimization component. The display also includes a second user interface component adapted to present performance information to a user. The performance information includes an optimized output from the optimization component which is based in part on the at least one constraint selected by the user.10-29-2009
