20080221677Artificial eye socket system and method - An artificial eye socket for use in the mounting of artificial eye is disclosed. The artificial eye socket is of substantially unitary construction and made from a flexible material such as rubber. The artificial eye socket comprises an outer base surface; an inner base surface; a substantially contiguous outer sclera surface which extends from the outer base surface to an iris knife edge to and from an iris opening in said socket; and a substantially contiguous inner cavity surface which extends from said inner base surface to said iris knife edge to form said iris opening in said socket and a cavity within said socket. An artificial eye may be inserted into said cavity and secured in a substantially fixed position by the inner base surface and the cavity surface. Methods for manufacturing and mounting the artificial eye socket and cleaning the surface of the artificial eye are also disclosed.09-11-2008
20090186554Pad printing with vitreous enamels - An improved ink composition and method for printing such inks on smooth, flat, curved uneven and/or irregular surfaces and substrates is disclosed. The ink may comprise a vitreous enamel in dry powder form; a clear vinyl based ink; and a thinner, wherein the ink is able to be utilized in the printing of images on glass, glass-like, ceramic, metal, metal-like, or other such substrates. The inks and method of printing the inks may be used in the manufacture of artificial eyes or other substrates. Such artificial eyes may comprise a glass, glass-like, ceramic, or other such substrate, and graphical or decorative inks which are bonded to the substrate. Generally, the decorative ink is applied to the inner or convex surface of the substrate, preferably by pad printing techniques and subjected to heat which bonds the ink to the surface of the substrate. The decorative inks are highly resistant to physical wear, separation from the substrate, chemical reaction, and other degradation. Thus, the inks of this invention do not require the use of a protective or barrier layer or other coating to achieve such resistance and durability.07-23-2009

20090208682Polyester Film Having Latent Shrink Properties and Process for Producing Same - A film layer is disclosed that is capable of shrinking when subjected to energy, such as heat. The film layer, for instance, can be formed and then stretched in one or two directions at a relatively low temperature. In particular, the film is stretched while the film layer is at a temperature near the glass transition temperature of the polymer used to form the film. Drawing the film at a relatively low temperature has been found to improve the shrink properties of the film. In one embodiment, the film layer is comprised of a non-modified polyester, such as polyethylene terephthalate. For example, the polyethylene terephthalate can be made by reacting terephthalic acid with ethylene glycol or polyethylene glycol.08-20-2009

20110308980MAGNETIZED HAND TOOLS - The magnetized hand tools each include a sleeve of resilient material disposed over each handle or the base of the tool. One or more magnets are installed between the tool handle(s) and the resilient grip(s) covering the handle(s). Alternatively, the tool may have one or more magnets installed in the base, i.e., the drive attachment end, of a socket, with a sleeve being applied over the base of the socket to retain the magnet(s). The socket sleeve has a passage therethrough for the conventional square drive of the ratchet or other tool used to drive the socket. The magnets are recessed into the base of the socket to allow the overlying sleeve portion to lie immediately adjacent to the surface of the socket base, and may be inset into recesses in the tool handles and/or positively attached thereto for more positive retention.12-22-2011

20110038761Wearable Chemical Dispenser - Wearable devices for dispensing insect repellents, fragrances, and/or other chemicals along the outside of the clothing of a human are disclosed. They are of the type that are clipped onto a belt or the like, and use a powered fan to dispense active. They are configured with fan rotor arrangements to minimize power use while still achieving acceptable air flow rates. These changes permit use of smaller batteries and more compact arrangements for battery positioning. This in turn permits a much more compact and lightweight construction to achieve the desired results. The devices are also provided with a rotatable clip structure to render use of the device more comfortable when the user is seated and to provide greater control over the direction of the dispensing. Further, they are provided with modified lids to facilitate active refill replacement.02-17-2011
