20110071627DEVICE FOR REVERSIBLY ATTACHING AN IMPLANT IN AN EYE - The object of providing a device for reversibly attaching an implant to an eye, with which the implant can be attached in a simple way to the eye and can if necessary be detached or removed from the eye, is achieved according to the present invention by means of a device for attaching an implant by means of a pin that comprises a substantially elongated shaft, wherein the implant includes an implant film for contacting living tissue or nerves in the visual system of the eye and the implant film has an opening through which the shaft of the pin can be at least partially inserted, characterised in that the device includes a holding element that can be arranged on the shaft of the pin so that the holding element engages on the shaft of the pin and is fixed in an attachment position to the pin. By means of the device according to the invention the implant is on the one hand reliably attached, but can if necessary be detached from the retina by removing the holding element or retainer, wherein the pin anchored in the eye does not have to be removed at the same time, but can be re-used. Damage or injury to the tissue of the eye that would otherwise be associated with the removal of the pin can thereby also be avoided.03-24-2011

20080319156Process For The Preparation Of Polycarbonate By The Melt Transesterification Process - The invention provides a process for the preparation of polycarbonate by the melt transesterification process, polycarbonate having a low electrostatic charge obtainable by this process, and mouldings or extrudates, in particular optical data storage media or light-diffusing plates, made from this polycarbonate.12-25-2008
20100086716METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF MULTILAYER CONTAINERS - The present invention concerns a process for producing a container having at least one layer and a top layer, wherein the layer contains polycarbonate and the top layer contains polyarylethersulfone or polyarylsulfone, characterised in that a) polycarbonate is melted on an extruder at 230-320° C., b) polyarylethersulfone or polyarylsulfone is melted on a further extruder, c) the melts obtained from steps a) and b) are shaped by coextrusion into a tube, which is then enclosed in a mould, d) the extrudate is inflated inside the mould and pressed against the wall of the mould, forming the shape of the container, and e) the container obtained from d) is trimmed and cooled, such containers and the use of the containers as bottles or medical devices.04-08-2010
20110127468Polycarbonate for making extruded films that are virtually free of surface defects - Linear polycarbonate resin virtually free of surface defects that impair the suitability of the resin for demanding optical application is disclosed. Also disclosed is a process for the manufacture of the resin. The surface defects included in the resin are in the form of transparent fluorescing particles, the particle count of which portion that are 15 and 250 μm in size, is up to 1.8 counts/g, said count being determined by exciting the residue remaining after filtering a solution of said polycarbonate in methylene chloride through a Teflon filter of 5 μm pore size at a wavelength of 400-440 nm, 25× overall magnification and illumination time of 40 millisec. The polycarbonate is suitable for making films of improved optical properties.06-02-2011
20110143126POLYCARBONATE BLENDS HAVING HIGH HEAT DISTORTION RESISTANCE AND IMPROVED SURFACE PROPERTIES - The present invention relates to compositions containing copolycarbonates comprising bisphenol A and TMC bisphenol building blocks and specific polyolefins or functionalized polyolefins. The invention also relates to mouldings and injection moulded parts and extrudates obtainable from these compositions, and to processes for the production of the mouldings and extrudates. The invention furthermore relates to multilayer products comprising a substrate containing the polycarbonate according to the invention, which has a further layer at least on one side, preferably a metal layer, and processes for the production of such products.06-16-2011
