20080240724System and method for cable monitoring - Embodiments include methods, apparatus, and systems for cable monitoring. One embodiment includes a method that receives data from an optical transceiver coupled to a cable and a RFID (radio frequency identification) device mounted to the cable. The data from the optical transceiver and RFID device is used to determine an operational status of the cable.10-02-2008
20100080554Fiber Optic Cable Diagnostics Using Digital Modulation - Embodiments are directed to fiber optic cable diagnostics using digital modulation. A contact of a RFID (radio frequency identification) device located in a cable is connected with a contact of an optical transceiver. Data through the cable is using digital modulation and monitored to determine if the fiber optic cable and the optical transceiver are properly functioning.04-01-2010
20110086539Cable end connectors - A cable end connector has a main body portion and male connector portions extending therefrom. The male connector portions are respectively receivable in recesses in an end portion of a cable connection component. The cable end connector is adapted to display status light signals emitted from between the recesses at the end portion of the cable connection component.04-14-2011

20100189434DISPERSION SCHEME FOR PHYSICAL LAYER DIAGNOSIS IN BI-DIRECTIONAL DUAL-FIBER OPTICAL NETWORKS - Methods, systems, and computer program products are provided for measuring modal dispersion in a bi-directional dual-multimode fiber optic network (BDON). A modal dispersion measurement system includes a computer processor that is programmed to receive a first pulse width of a first pulse. The first pulse may be communicated over the BDON that is coupled to the processor. A second pulse width of a second pulse is received, the second pulse width being indicative of the modal dispersion. The second pulse width and the first pulse width are compared by the computer processor to determine a distortion error. A measurement of the modal dispersion is validated in accordance to the distortion error.07-29-2010
