20100250824Migrating Virtual Machines Configured With Pass-Through Devices - Virtual machines that utilize pass-through devices are migrated from a source host computer to a destination host computer. During preparation for migration, the pass-through device is substituted with an emulation handler that simulates the pass-through device experiencing errors. Upon successful migration, an error reporting signal is triggered to cause the device driver in the virtual machine to initiate a reset of the pass-through device at the destination host computer, upon which the pass-through device is mapped to the migrated virtual machine.09-30-2010

20100239488Controlled Placement and Orientation of Nanostructures - A method for controlled deposition and orientation of molecular sized nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) on substrates is disclosed. The method comprised: forming a thin layer of polymer coating on a substrate; exposing a selected portion of the thin layer of polymer to alter a selected portion of the thin layer of polymer; forming a suspension of nanostructures in a solvent, wherein the solvent suspends the nanostructures and activates the nanostructures in the solvent for deposition; and flowing a suspension of nanostructures across the layer of polymer in a flow direction; thereby: depositing a nanostructure in the suspension of nanostructures only to the selected portion of the thin layer of polymer coating on the substrate to form a deposited nanostructure oriented in the flow direction. By selectively employing portions of the method above, complex NEMS may be built of simpler NEMSs components.09-23-2010

20090315902INTELLIGENT CACHING DATA STRUCTURE FOR IMMEDIATE MODE GRAPHICS - An intelligent caching data structure and mechanisms for storing visual information via objects and data representing graphics information. The data structure is generally associated with mechanisms that intelligently control how the visual information therein is populated and used. The cache data structure can be traversed for direct rendering, or traversed for pre-processing the visual information into an instruction stream for another entity. Much of the data typically has no external reference to it, thereby enabling more of the information stored in the data structure to be processed to conserve resources. A transaction/batching-like model for updating the data structure enables external modifications to the data structure without interrupting reading from the data structure, and such that changes received are atomically implemented. A method and mechanism are provided to call back to an application program in order to create or re-create portions of the data structure as needed, to conserve resources.12-24-2009
