In some implementations, the controller may determine to divide or split the display of an x-channel subframe based on the ambient light. The controller can monitor the ambient light levels via an ambient light sensor, and compare the ambient light level to an ambient light threshold. If the ambient light levels go below the ambient light threshold, the controller can employ subframe division or splitting. | 03-24-2016 |
20160086574 | ADAPTIVE FLICKER CONTROL - This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for reducing flicker in display devices. In some image formation processes, a controller can form an image by utilizing a set of color subfields and displaying subframes associated with each of the color subfields. In some implementations, the controller can determine a critical flicker frequency (CFF) associated with each subframe. The CFF for a subframe of a color is the minimum frequency at which the subframe of that color must be illuminated to avoid the perception of flicker by a viewer. If the CFF for any subframe is above an illumination frequency for that subframe, then the controller can employ flicker mitigation measures to reduce the perception of flicker of the subframe. In some implementations, the controller may carry out flicker mitigating measures such as dividing the display of subframes based on environmental factors such as ambient light. | 03-24-2016 |

20100233191 | Method of treating or preventing benign prostatic hyperplasia using modified pore-forming proteins - The present invention provides a method of treating BPH using modified pore-forming proteins (MPPs). These MPPs are derived from naturally occurring cytotoxic proteins (nPPs) that kill cells by forming pores or channels in the cell membrane, resulting in cell death. The MPPs are generated by modification of the nPPs such that they are capable of being selectively activated at normal prostate cells. Such modification may include the addition of a prostate-specific protease cleavage site to the activation sequence, and/or the addition of a prostate-specific targeting domain to allow selective targeting of prostate cells. These MPPs are capable of selectively targeting and killing normal prostate cells in vivo. The suspension system includes a rear suspension for coupling the rear wheel of the bicycle to the bicycle frame, a rear shock absorber disposed entirely in front of the seat tube of the frame and a linkage for operatively coupling the rear suspension to the rear shock absorber. The linkage intersects the longitudinal axis of the seat tube for transmitting rear suspension forces around the seat tube to the rear shock absorber. The seat tube is preferably continuous and is disposed so that the bicycle seat is adjustable over a full range of seat positions. The seat tube orientation ensures that the seat is movable between optimum biomechanical positions for both uphill pedaling and aggressive downhill freeriding. Additionally, the seat tube and rear suspension system are configured so that the rear wheel and rear suspension will not contact the seat tube, seat, or bicycle rider even when the rear suspension system is in a fully compressed, forward position. The shock absorber is preferably oriented in an orientation to maximize its stroke length. For example, the shock absorber may be oriented generally parallel to a top tube of the bicycle frame. | 10-23-2008 |

20100150512 | WAVEGUIDE FOR PROPAGATING RADIATION - A low-loss waveguide that can be curved aggressively, that is, curved with a radius of curvature that is substantially zero, in the plane of propagation, without radiating, is formed by a slab of dielectric material having four metal plates, two on each opposite surface of the slab and mutually spaced to define in the dielectric slab between the four metal plates a confinement zone. In use, electromagnetic radiation injected in one end of the zone by suitable input means will propagate throughout the zone to an extraction means. Lower loss and better confinement of the radiation may be obtained by providing plugs of dielectric material adjacent the inwardly-facing edge of each of the metal plates. Embodiments of the invention can be used to implement integrated optical devices and circuits for routing or processing light signals. | 06-17-2010 |
