20100276093 | PROCESS FOR FRACTIONATING SUGARCANE BAGASSE INTO HIGH A-CELLULOSE PULP, XYLAN AND LIGNIN - Sugarcane bagasse consists of mainly three polymeric components, namely cellulose (40-45%), hemicellulose (xylan) (28-30%), and lignin (19-21%). A process is herein disclosed for fractionating sugarcane bagasse into cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin with high purity α-cellulose, which is a useful raw material for preparing cellulose esters like cellulose triacetate and other high value-added cellulose plastics. Co-production and recovery of hemicellulose (xylan) and lignin in high yields and high purities, along with α-cellulose, is another important feature of this process. Sugarcane bagasse consists of a material known as pith which constitutes 30-35% by weight of bagasse. Pith contains cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, in addition to various other ingredients and cell mass. The process described herein discloses the use of partially depithed bagasse as a preferred raw material for fractionation. Use of sugarcane bagasse containing pith leads to a product which is lower in yield as well as poorer in color. | 11-04-2010 |

20120254143 | NATURAL LANGUAGE QUERYING WITH CASCADED CONDITIONAL RANDOM FIELDS - A natural language query tool comprising cascaded conditional random fields (CRFs) (e.g., a linear-chain CRF and a skip-chain CRF applied sequentially) processes natural language input to produce output that can be used in database searches. For example, cascaded CRFs extract entities from natural language input that correspond to column names or column values in a database, and identify relationships between the extracted entities. A search engine can execute queries based on output from the cascaded CRFs over an inverted index of a database, which can be based on one or more materialized views of the database. Results can be sorted (e.g., according to relevance scores) and presented in a user interface. | 10-04-2012 |

20090099986 | LEARNING TRADEOFFS BETWEEN DISCRIMINATIVE POWER AND INVARIANCE OF CLASSIFIERS - Systems and methods are described for learning the discriminative power-invariance tradeoffs for classification of input data (“tradeoff learning system”). In various embodiments, the tradeoff learning system receives multiple classifiers (“base classifiers”) and employs a learning technique to produce a combined classifier. Each received base classifier achieves a different level of tradeoff. The learning technique then decreases a function of kernel weights associated with each of the received classifiers to produce the combined classifier. By decreasing the function of kernel weights, the tradeoff learning system computes a combined classifier that classifies input data more accurately than the received multiple classifiers. | 04-16-2009 |
20100094784 | GENERALIZED KERNEL LEARNING IN SUPPORT VECTOR REGRESSION - A generalized kernel learning system and method for learning a wide variety of kernels for use in a support vector regression (SVR) technique. Embodiments of the generalized kernel learning system and method learn nearly any possible kernel, subject to minor constraints. The learned kernel then is used to obtain a desired function, which is a function that closely fits training data and has a desired simplicity. Embodiments of the generalized kernel learning method include inputting the training data, reformulating a and a standard SVM ε-SVR primal formulation for a single kernel as two reformulated primal cost functions for multiple kernels, and then reformulating one of the two reformulated primal cost functions as a reformulated dual cost function. A plurality of different regularizer and kernel combinations is evaluated using the reformulated dual cost function, and it is determined which regularizer and kernel combination yields the desired function. | 04-15-2010 |

20110099429 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR BACKWARD-COMPATIBLE CONSTANT-TIME EXCEPTION-PROTECTION MEMORY - Embodiments of the invention provide a table-free technique for detecting all temporal and spatial memory access errors in programs supporting general pointers. Embodiments of the invention provide such error checking using constant-time operations. Embodiments of the invention rely on fat pointers, whose size is contained within standard scalar sizes (up to two words) so that atomic hardware support for operations upon the pointers is obtained along with meaningful casts in-between pointers and other scalars. Optimized compilation of code becomes possible since the scalarized-for-free encoded pointers get register allocated and manipulated.
