20110055493 | TRANSACTION BASED SHARED DATA OPERATIONS IN A MULTIPROCESSOR ENVIRONMENT - The apparatus and method described herein are for handling shared memory accesses between multiple processors utilizing lock-free synchronization through transactional-execution. A transaction demarcated in software is speculatively executed. During execution invalidating remote accesses/requests to addresses loaded from and to be written to shared memory are tracked by a transaction buffer. If an invalidating access is encountered, the transaction is re-executed. After a pre-determined number of times re-executing the transaction, the transaction may be re-executed non-speculatively with locks/semaphores. | 03-03-2011 |
20110161627 | MECHANISMS TO AVOID INEFFICIENT CORE HOPPING AND PROVIDE HARDWARE ASSISTED LOW-POWER STATE SELECTION - An apparatus and method is described herein for avoiding inefficient core hopping and providing hardware assisted power state selection. Future idle-activity of cores is predicted. If the residency of activity patterns for efficient core hop scenarios is predicted to be large enough, a core is determined to be efficient and allowed. However, if efficient activity patterns are not predicted to be resident for long enough—inefficient patterns are instead predicted to be resident for longer—then a core hop request is denied. As a result, designers may implement a policy for avoiding core hops that weighs the potential gain of the core hop, such as alleviation of a core hop condition, against a penalty for performing the core hop, such as a temporal penalty for the core hop. Separately, idle durations associated with hardware power states for cores may be predicted in hardware. Furthermore, accuracy of the idle duration prediction is determined. Upon receipt of a request for a core to enter a power state, a power management unit may select either the hardware predicted power state, if the accuracy is high enough, or utilize the requested power state, if the accuracy of the hardware prediction is not high enough. | 06-30-2011 |

20090044279 | Systems and methods for fraud detection via interactive link analysis - Fraud detection is facilitated by developing account cluster membership rules and converting them to database queries via an examination of clusters of linked accounts abstracted from the customer database. The cluster membership rules are based upon certain observed data patterns associated with potentially fraudulent activity. In one embodiment, account clusters are grouped around behavior patterns exhibited by imposters. The system then identifies those clusters exhibiting a high probability of fraud and builds cluster membership rules for identifying subsequent accounts that match those rules. The rules are designed to define the parameters of the identified clusters. When the rules are deployed in a transaction blocking system, when a rule pertaining to an identified fraudulent cluster is triggered, the transaction blocking system blocks the transaction with respect to new users who enter the website. | 02-12-2009 |

20090287932 | Consumer-Driven Secure Sockets Layer Modulator - A software system and method for executing secure commercial transactions online is disclosed. A user's password is received to initiate secure socket layer (SSL) communications with a transaction site on a server. A web session associated with the SSL communications is encrypted by associating a domain name of the transaction site with its SSL public key. Then, the user's password is added to a hypertext markup language (HTML) header of a message within the web session. When added, the password is invisible to a hypothetical man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacker, who cannot read the encrypted message nor mimic the user. The MITM is thus unable to compromise the user's account as the MITM is unable to provide the correct password into any fraudulent message. | 11-19-2009 |
