20100061425 | METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ANTI-INTERFERENCE FIGHTING IN A TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM - A method for fighting interference in a communication system is disclosed where the links are of frequency-hopping type. The signal has several frequency time slots. The system has at least one main sensor and one or more auxiliary sensors, one or more guard band are inserted between the useful bands of the frequency-hopping signal. The total area of the inserted guard bands is chosen so as to satisfy a chosen value of probability of interference interception. The signals of the inserted guard bands are selected whose level is greater than a given threshold. A set of spatial-filtering weightings are determined, for each time slot of the signal, by taking account of the correlation matrix of the noise plus jammers alone on the signals selected. The baseband signals of the assemblage of extended blocks are filtered by the set of calculated weightings of the time slot so as to generate extended blocks devoid of interference. | 03-11-2010 |

20100093860 | HYDROXYBUTYRATE AND POLY-HYDROXYBUTYRATE AS COMPONENTS OF ANIMAL FEED OR FEED ADDITIVES - This invention relates to the use of hydroxybutyrate and poly hydroxybutyrate as components of animal feed or feed additives, as well as to compositions, feed additives and feed containing them. The inventors surprisingly found that hydroxybutyrate and poly-hydroxybutyrate, preferably 3-hydroxybutyrate and poly-3-hydroxybutyrate, have a great potential for use in animal feed for modulation of the gut flora. More precisely, it has been found that poly-3-hydroxybutyrate or a microbial strain capable for producing poly-3-hydroxybutyrate can be used as a potential growth promoter or gut flora modulator by releasing SCFA, preferably 3-hydroxy butyric acid, in the gut micro flora. Further, the inventors found that 3-hydroxybutyrate and poly-3-hydroxybutyrate have a great potential for suppressing or inhibiting pathogenic bacteria in the gastro intestinal tract, e.g. have a antimicrobial activity against strains of | 04-15-2010 |

20120058551 | TECHNOLOGY AND METHOD TO STUDY MICROBIAL GROWTH AND ADHESION TO HOST-RELATED SURFACES AND THE HOST-MICROBIOTA INTERACTIONS - The present invention relates to in vitro adhesion modules that allow growth, stabilization and study of microbial communities that adhere to and colonize host-related surfaces, that mimic transport of chemical compounds across epithelial surfaces and simulate host-microorganism interactions and adaptation. It includes the provision of micromolar amounts of oxygen via the basal side of a mucus layer towards the adhered microorganisms thus establishing the microaerophilic conditions prevailing at the base of a biofilm. It can also include cells, simulating the host, in a chamber on the basal side of a functional layer comprising said mucus layer. The adhesion module of the present invention can be placed between the different compartments of the SHIME—the Simulator of the Human Intestinal Microbial Ecosystem. An extension of the SHIME is made where the duodenum, jejunum and ileum are separately mimicked. | 03-08-2012 |
20130203161 | TECHNOLOGY AND METHOD TO STUDY MICROBIAL GROWTH AND ADHESION TO HOST-RELATED SURFACES AND THE HOST-MICROBIOTA INTERACTION - A method is provided for co-culturing viable cells and microorganisms for at least 48 hours in which an adhesion module is provided including a basal compartment and a luminal compartment separated by a semi-permeable membrane, and a continuous or semi-continuous flow of fresh medium is applied to the basal compartment. | 08-08-2013 |

20120230955 | ARABINOXYLANS FOR MODULATING THE BARRIER FUNCTION OF THE INTESTINAL SURFACE - The present invention is directed to a particular arabinoxylan (“AX”) preparation and the finding that this preparation has a beneficial effect on the organization of the intestinal microbial community in the lumen and in particular at the site of the gut mucosa, where it modulates the barrier function of the intestinal surface, primarily by modulating the mucosa-associated microbial community towards a relative increase of health beneficial bacteria, such as bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. It is accordingly a first aspect of the present invention to provide said arabinoxylan preparation characterized in comprising isolated water-soluble arabinoxylans and the use thereof to improve functioning (e.g. barrier function) of the intestinal epithelium. Thus, in a further aspect the present invention provides compositions, both pharmaceutical and nutritional compositions, comprising said arabinoxylan preparations; in particular pharmaceuticals, medical foods, food supplements or food compositions, such as infant formula products, dairy products, bakery products or pastry products. The compositions optionally comprise probiotics such as | 09-13-2012 |
