20130047978 | VORTEX-INDUCED CLEANING OF SURFACES - A solar panel configured to reduce contaminant accumulation thereon, including a surface adapted to harvest solar energy; and a vortex-inducing generator including chevron-shaped features disposed across at least a portion of the surface to reduce contaminant accumulation thereon by causing air flow passing over the surface to remove at least some contaminants deposited thereon and/or keeping particles entrained in the air flow to reduce deposition on the surface. A method of passively cleaning a solar panel includes providing the solar panel, and positioning the solar panel such that the leading edge is oriented to intercept a prevailing wind direction. A solar array includes a plurality of the solar panels, wherein each solar panel is positioned such that the leading edge is oriented to intercept a prevailing wind direction. | 02-28-2013 |

20080272056 | Method and Apparatus for Separating Impurities from a Liquid Stream by Electrically Generated Gas Bubbles - A method and apparatus for separating impurities from a liquid stream includes a feed tank for containing an untreated liquid, a mixer for generating and mixing bubbles throughout the wastewater, and a settling tank for allowing the wastewater to settle for removal of impurities through dissolved gas floatation. The mixer includes a housing and a rotor rotatably mounted within the housing. The rotor is electrically isolated and the peripheral wall of the housing is electrically isolated and the rotor preferably has bores formed in its peripheral surface to produce cavitation to aid in mixing of fluid within the mixer. A power supply is coupled to establish a relatively positive electrical charge on the rotor and a relatively negative electrical charge on the wall of the housing. The charge causes electrolysis to occur within the fluid, which forms small low surface tension gas bubbles on the rotor and housing wall. These bubbles detach and are mixed with the fluid, where they can attach to and separate impurities through dissolved gas floatation. | 11-06-2008 |

20100090124 | Method and Apparatus for Irradiating Fluids - A method and an apparatus for treating fluids are provided. The method generally includes cavitating and irradiating a liquid. The irradiation of the liquid may include exposing the liquid to ultraviolet radiation. The apparatus generally includes a housing having a chamber formed therein and defined, at least in part, by a chamber wall that transmits radiation therethrough. The apparatus also includes a cavitator in flow communication with the interior of the chamber and a radiator aligned to direct radiation into the interior of the chamber. Cavitation generated by the apparatus and/or provided in the method tends to refresh the liquid exposed to the radiationt, thereby increasing the rate of radiation exposure for the liquid. | 04-15-2010 |

20090292376 | PLAYLIST EXECUTION IN A SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING ENVIRONMENT - The present invention relates to generating and executing a playlist in a scheduled programming environment. In one embodiment, a media content recommendation for select media content is received from a first entity. The select media content for the media content recommendation is then added to a playlist for a first user. The playlist will identify numerous media content items to be consumed at particular times, in a particular order, or a combination thereof. The playlist is provided to a content control function, which controls, either directly or remotely, a scheduled programming interface (SPI) device to execute the playlist. The SPI device effectively consumes the media content items of the playlist in an automated fashion. Consumption of the media content items may include presenting the media content to the first user via an audio or video monitor, recording the media content in local or remote storage, or a combination thereof. | 11-26-2009 |
