20100070294 | CREATING AND COMMUNICATING STAFFING ASSIGNMENTS - An automated apparatus, method and system are provided for creating and communicating staffing assignments associated with a plurality of patients receiving treatment in multiple different areas within a healthcare facility and in association with multiple different phases of treatment. In particular, a centralized staff assignment application or module is provided, wherein a staff assignor may access the staff assignment application in order to identify, among other things: (1) staff members capable of facilitating treatment to patients within each area of the healthcare facility; (2) the roles each of those staff members is capable of performing; (3) the peri-operative phase associated with each phase; and (4) the patients scheduled to receive treatment in each of the areas in association with each of the phases. This information may thereafter be used to make staffing assignments, which may be communicated to individuals and applications throughout the healthcare facility. | 03-18-2010 |

20100013420 | REVERSE DRIVE CONTROL FOR A MOTORCYCLE - A vehicle comprising a rotatable wheel (e.g., three rotatable wheels), a forward drive mechanism including a forward drive motor (e.g., an internal combustion engine), and a reverse drive mechanism. The reverse drive mechanism includes a reverse drive motor (e.g., an electric motor) adapted to move the chassis in the rearward direction, and a reverse drive control programmed to inhibit operation of the reverse drive mechanism when the forward drive motor is off. In one embodiment, the vehicle includes a battery for operating the reverse drive motor, and the reverse drive control is programmed to inhibit operation of the motor when a characteristic of the battery (e.g., an output voltage) falls below a threshold. The vehicle can further include a temperature sensor for the reverse drive motor. In this embodiment, the reverse drive control is programmed to inhibit operation of the reverse drive motor when the temperature of the motor exceeds a threshold. | 01-21-2010 |

20100193256 | CONTROLLING A SCALE IN CONNECTION WITH A CONTAINER OF POURABLE BULK MATERIALS - A method of controlling a scale in connection with to a carrier of pourable bulk materials. The scale involved has a control with a display and control buttons. Upon a first press of a first control button, the system is transitioned into a “tare” mode and displays a base, or tare, value. Upon a second press of the first control button, generally after unloading some or all of the load, the difference in weight from the first press is saved to a storage medium, and a value displayed representing the weight of bulk material in the container at that time. The method may also include the pressing of a Zero button to zero the scale before the carrier is first loaded. | 08-05-2010 |

20090193076 | Exchanging Data Using Programmatic Conversion to Emulated HTML Form Data - Programming code embedded in an application automatically converts local client data to emulated HTML multi-part form data, without downloading a corresponding form from a web server. The selection of data for conversion is performed programmatically, without the need for interactive user specification of each data item. The emulated HTML multi-part form data is transmitted to a web server as a service request. Preferably, the client application is a configuration utility which generates a record of a computer system configuration, and the server performs the function of configuration verification on configuration data formatted as emulated HTML multi-part form data. The server concurrently maintains a web page which will, on request, download an HTML form corresponding to a system configuration to a web browser, from which a user may specify a system configuration to be verified. | 07-30-2009 |
20100191922 | DATA STORAGE PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT THROUGH A WRITE ACTIVITY LEVEL METRIC RECORDED IN HIGH PERFORMANCE BLOCK STORAGE METADATA - A sequence of fixed-size blocks defines a page (e.g., in a server system, storage subsystem, DASD, etc.). Each fixed-size block includes a data block and a footer. A high performance block storage metadata unit associated with the page is created from a confluence of the footers. The confluence of footers has space available for application metadata. In an embodiment, the metadata space is utilized to record a “write activity level” metric, and a timestamp. The metric indicates the write frequency or “hotness” of the page, and its value changes over time as the activity level changes. Storage subsystem performance may be enhanced by mapping frequently accessed pages to higher performance physical disks and mapping infrequently accessed pages to lower power physical disks. This approach is advantageous in that the metric is recorded on a non-volatile basis and may be readily communicated between system components (e.g., between a host computer and a storage subsystem). | 07-29-2010 |
