20140318987 | ANALYTE METER TEST STRIP DETECTION - An analyte meter having a test strip port is configured to detect whether an approved test strip has been inserted into the test strip port before turning on analyte measurement subsystems in the analyte meter. After the meter is turned on, control circuitry in the meter continues to monitor whether the test strip is removed prior to application of a blood sample on the test strip or whether the test strip is removed after application of a blood sample on the test strip, such as during an assay of the sample. | 10-30-2014 |
20140326614 | ANALYTICAL TEST METER - A portable analytical test meter is designed for use with an associated analytical test strip. A test-strip-receiving module receives the analytical test strip and is electrically connected to a dummy load calibration circuit block. That block is configured to provide a dummy magnitude correction and a dummy phase correction; and a memory block is configured to store the dummy magnitude correction and the dummy phase correction. A method for calibrating a portable analytical test meter for use with an analytical test strip includes determining a dummy magnitude correction and a dummy phase correction of the portable analytical test meter using a dummy load calibration circuit block of the portable analytical test meter. The dummy magnitude correction and the dummy phase correction are stored in a memory block of the portable analytical test meter. Using the stored dummy magnitude correction and stored dummy phase correction, an analyte is determined. | 11-06-2014 |

20100049069 | BIOMEDICAL SIGNAL MORPHOLOGY ANALYSIS METHOD - A way of quantifying the shape of an ECG waveform is disclosed by detecting the JT segment using two Hidden Markov Models and calculating the analytic signal of the JT segment. Parameters calculated from the analytic signal are used as shape descriptors for the JT segment. The shape descriptors may be displayed in a dimensionality-reduced mapping. Templates representing characteristic shapes can be produced by finding cluster centres in the shape descriptor space, and the novelty of new waveforms can be quantified by comparing the position in shape descriptor space of new shape descriptors to a predefined normal training set or to previously encountered waveforms. Novel shape descriptors can be used to retrieve the corresponding waveforms, and templates of such novel shapes can be created by averaging such waveforms, using dynamic time warping to allow for variations in heart rate. The templates can be manually segmented and the manual segmentation propagated back into other waveforms having similar shape descriptors. | 02-25-2010 |

20100056939 | METHOD OF BIOMEDICAL SIGNAL ANALYSIS INCLUDING IMPROVED AUTOMATIC SEGMENTATION - A method of analysing biomedical signals, for example electrocardiograms, by using a Hidden Markov Model for subsections of the signal. In the case of an electrocardiogram two Hidden Markov Models are used to detect respectively the start and end of the QT interval. The relationship between the QT interval and heart rate can be computed and a contemporaneous value for the slope of this relationship can be obtained by calculating the QT/RR relationship for all of the beats in a sliding time window based on the current beat. Portions of electrocardiograms taken on different days can efficiently and accurately be compared by selecting time windows of the ECGs at the same time of day, and looking for similar beats in those time windows. | 03-04-2010 |

20150105666 | NARROW BAND FEATURE EXTRACTION FROM CARDIAC SIGNALS - A PPG or other cardiac signal is analysed by calculating its amplitude in a narrow frequency range around the estimated heart rate or a harmonic of the heart rate. Cardiac signals from a patient in different states, e.g., exercise and non-exercise or limb lowered and limb raised can be analysed and the amplitude in the narrow range compared to determine various vascular conditions such as peripheral arterial disease. | 04-16-2015 |
20150150515 | RESPIRATION RATE EXTRACTION FROM CARDIAC SIGNALS - At least two waveforms indicative of respiration are extracted from cardiac signals such as PPG or ECG. The extracted waveforms are converted into the frequency domain and multiplied together to form a combined frequency response function representing the frequency content of the combined respiratory waveform. Up to three peaks in the combined frequency response function are identified and averaged to provide an improved estimate of the breathing rate. | 06-04-2015 |
