20120303573 | Methods and apparatus for prediction and modification of behavior in networks - In exemplary implementations of this invention, mobile application (app) installations by users of one or more networks are predicted. Using network data gathered by smartphones, multiple “candidate” graphs (including a call log graph) are calculated. The “candidate” graphs are weighted by an optimization vector and then summed to calculate a composite graph. The composite graph is used to predict the conditional probabilities that the respective users will install an app, depending in part on whether the user's neighbors have previously installed the app. Exogenous factors, such as the app's quality, may be taken into account by creating a virtual candidate graph. The conditional probabilities may be used to select a subset of the users. Signals may be sent to the subset of users, including to recommend an app. Also, the probability of successful “trend ignition” may be predicted from network data. | 11-29-2012 |
20120316933 | METHOD FOR PROMOTING BEHAVIOR CHANGE THROUGH SOCIAL REWARD MEDIATION - Disclosed herein are methods and systems for influencing behavior in social settings. The method/system gathers information about the behavior of socially connected entities/individuals, for example, and computes monetary rewards, for example, to distribute to these individuals, thus giving them incentive to adopt a particular behavior. Examples of applications include health insurance, car insurance, power production, weight-loss programs, and public utilities. These methods and systems can be twice as efficient in terms of effect per cost as compared to previous approaches. These methods and systems can improve overall quality of service among computer networks. | 12-13-2012 |
20130297781 | Methods and Apparatus for Tuning a Network for Optimal Performance - In exemplary implementations of this invention, one or more computer processors receive electronic data indicative of, or compute (i) at least three different topologies of a network and (ii) a level of network performance of a task for each of the different topologies, respectively. The processors also calculate (i) a cascade probability for each of the different topologies, respectively, (ii) a curve indicative of correlation between the cascade probabilities and levels of network performance, and (iii) an optimal cascade probability which optimizes the level of network performance. A topological change in the network is produced (or its likelihood is increased). The topological change makes or would make the cascade probability closer to the optimal cascade probability. The processors output control signals (i) to make the topological change or (ii) to communicate an incentive for the topological change to an electronic node device in the network. | 11-07-2013 |

20090307263 | System And Method Of Performing Location Analytics - A system and method are provided for associating location data from one or more unique sources. The place and time of a unique location enabled device are associated with stored demographic information relating to the particular place and particular time. The place and time of the unique location enabled device are associated with a historical record of past locations and time of locations that the device has been. Based on the association of demographical information and historical information, the unique location enable device is assigned to one or more groups or tribes. The location of all members of the group or tribe can be aggregated and exported for further analysis or display, thereby showing all group or tribe members at a particular time and place. | 12-10-2009 |
20100079336 | Comparing Spatial-Temporal Trails In Location Analytics - Systems and computer implemented methods are provided for comparing, associating and deriving associations between two or more spatial temporal data trails. One or more spatial-temporal data trails comprising one or more places are received at a processor. Each place is identified by a spatial temporal data point. And each spatial-temporal data trail is associated with an individual. The similarity between pairs of places is determined to establish one or more groups of places or one or more groups of individuals. Similarity and/groups can be determined based on demographics associated with the place or individual. | 04-01-2010 |
20100082301 | Event Identification In Sensor Analytics - A method of detecting an event anomaly includes receiving one or more data points, in which each data point represents a spatial or temporal event, associating a unique identifier with each of the one or more data points to obtain one or more individualized data points, distributing the one or more individualized data points across a grid, in which the grid includes one or more cells, determining an event likelihood ratio for one or more of the grid cells, identifying one or more event clusters, in which each event cluster includes one or more of the grid cells, and storing in a data repository an event cluster having a significance level above a threshold significance level. | 04-01-2010 |
