20110245985 | Virtual Energy Meter for Automation and Historian Systems - The present invention relates to the provision of Energy consumption information with Virtual Energy Metering from Non-Energy metering data sources within Automation and Historian control systems. Through the use of a Virtual Energy Meter using an Energy Interface to communicate with various Automation or Historian control systems, devices such as motors and valves that do not have Energy monitoring functionality can provide Energy consumption information. The virtual energy meter converts Automation and Historian control data, such as device commands and feedback signals, into energy consumption information through the use of an energy translation method. The energy information is then made available for analysis through the virtual meters information data store. The advantage of the invention is that it removes numerous overheads associated with traditional energy metering such as the necessity for metering infrastructure, hardware, downtime and installation costs. | 10-06-2011 |

20080246765 | Method and apparatus for constraint-based texture generation - A method and apparatus for texture mapping a surface. The method is applicable to texture mapping either a two-dimensional representation (image) of a three-dimensional surface as well as a three-dimensional computer model of a three-dimensional surface, such as a triangular wire mesh model. In one embodiment, the texture mapping process involves user-specification of a plurality of constraints, including texture flow constraints, texture discontinuities, and surface underfolds. A triangular wire mesh model of the surface to be textured is generated. The mesh allows a continuous texture distribution to be specified as a linear interpolation of texture values at the triangular vertices. User-specified constraints are preserved as edges within the triangular mesh. The triangular mesh is used to compute a weighted energy functional expressed in terms of nodal texture values. The global value of this functional serves as a measure of how closely the user-specified and physics-based constraints are met by a particular texture distribution. The optimal texture distribution is found by determining the set of nodal values which minimizes this functional, through an iterative process that is recursively applied to each nodal value using the results of a previous iteration. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, the results of previous optimizations may be used as the starting point for subsequent refinements of the texture distribution, in the event that greater levels of photorealisim are necessary. During this recursive procedure the triangular mesh is progressively refined using an adaptive subdivision procedure which allows local texture variations to be more accurately expressed whilst optimizing the overall mesh density against calculational efficiency. | 10-09-2008 |

20100156244 | METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING ULTRASOUND TRANSDUCERS AND OTHER COMPONENTS - The invention features methods for the manufacture of electrical components such as ultrasound transducers. In particular, the inventions provides methods of patterning electrodes, e.g., in the connection of an ultrasound transducer to an electrical circuit; methods of depositing metal on surfaces; and methods of making integrated matching layer for an ultrasound transducer. 20100298709 | METHOD FOR NONLINEAR IMAGING OF ULTRASOUND CONTRAST AGENTS AT HIGH FREQUENCIES - This invention employs multiple ultrasound pulse firings of either alternating phase and/or amplitude to detect nonlinear fundamental and subharmonic signals from microbubble contrast agents within living tissue, at high frequencies (≧15 MHz), e.g., with a linear array transducer. It can be shown that the contrast-to-tissue ratio (CTR) decreases with increasing ultrasound frequency because of nonlinear ultrasound propagation in tissue. However, using the subharmonic signal in addition to the nonlinear fundamental harmonic component, rather than the conventional second harmonic used at lower frequencies, provides appreciable signal strength to overcome the limitations of nonlinear tissue propagation. Additionally, the method provides for the ability to switch, at some desired frequency above 20 MHz, into a purely alternating phase inversion acquisition, in combination with bandpass filtering of the subharmonic frequency band, minimizing the losses in CTR as the frequency increases. This maintains contrast sensitivity for more limited fields of view, as penetration depth will be limited at higher frequencies. Thus, within the same micro-ultrasound imaging system, many applications of microbubble detection can be achieved with a wide range of frequencies that covers both resolution and sensitivity requirements. | 11-25-2010 |
