20130132212REAL-TIME DYNAMIC PAGE AWARENESS FOR AD SERVING - An ad serving platform utilizes real time dynamic page awareness for ad serving. For every new digital content URL, the ad serving platform reviews the layout and relative position of ad placements in a content environment and stores a “map” of this information, which is accessible to the ad server in real time for use in ad selection, and is refreshed periodically (e.g., every three minutes) to account for changes. As a result, without control of the page, the ad server platform can make complex serving decisions based upon relative page position of advertising placements.05-23-2013
20130144712SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GROUP DELIVERY, GROUP COUNTING AND GROUP PACING OF AD DELIVERY ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB - Through the utilization of group delivery, group counting and group pacing, an ad serving platform treats a grouping of ads as a standard unit despite the multiple ad unit components. The ad server platform paces and manages the flight of that grouped set of ads as a single entity. The ad server platform guarantees quality of delivery by only counting a qualified impression event when the group delivery has been successful, thereby opening this type of highly impactful advertising experience up to non-standard inventory sources, rather than relying on highly controlled content environments.06-06-2013

20130194486IMAGE BLUR DETECTION - Among other things, one or more techniques and/or systems are provided for quantifying blur of an image. Blur may result due to motion of a camera while the image is captured. Accordingly, motion measurement data corresponding to motion of the camera during an exposure event may be used to create a camera rotation matrix. A camera intrinsic matrix may be obtained based upon a focal length and principle point of the camera. A transformation matrix may be estimated based upon the camera rotation matrix and/or the camera intrinsic matrix. The transformation matrix may be applied to pixels within the image to determine a blur metric for the image. In this way, blur of an image may be quantified offline and/or in real-time during operation of the camera (e.g., so that the image may be re-acquired (e.g., on the fly) if the image is regarded as being overly blurry).08-01-2013
20140119639WATER-BODY CLASSIFICATION - Among other things, one or more techniques and/or systems are provided for classifying a water-body. For example, initial water-body segmentation may be used to segment imagery into water-body features or non-water-body features to create an initial water-body map. The initial water-body map may be refined based upon confidence scores assigned to pixels within the imagery. In one example, a confidence score may correspond to a confidence that a stereo matching technique produced a correct elevation for a pixel. A relatively low confidence score may indicate that the pixel corresponds to water (e.g., due to a lack of features/texture on water), while a relatively high confidence score may indicate that the pixel does not correspond to water (e.g., due to presence of features/texture, such as roads, building corners, etc.). In this way, confidence scores may, for example, be used to refine the initial water-body map to create a final water-body map.05-01-2014

20140017783Non-Enzymatic Method for Isolating Human Adipose-Derived Stromal Stem Cells - A simple method was developed to extract adipose-derived stromal stem cells (ASCs) without using enzymatic digestion of the collagen in adipose tissue. The resulting ASCs isolated by the simple wash method have lower levels of CD34 expression, a hematopoietic stem cell marker, as compared to ASCs isolated using conventional enzymatic digestion using collagenase. This characteristic is consistent with non-enzymatically treated stem cells obtained from bone marrow aspirates, which are negative for CD34. Additionally, the washed ASCs have higher levels of CD44 expression, a hyaluronate receptor, and lower levels of contaminating hematopoietic cells, as evidenced by low CD45 expression, as compared to enzymatically digested cells. The cells produced by this simple method can be used therapeutically for allogenic or autologous tissue regeneration, and can be administered using any pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. In addition, the cells can be administered in a matrix, lattice, scaffold, or other biologically compatible materials.01-16-2014

20130074088SCHEDULING AND MANAGEMENT OF COMPUTE TASKS WITH DIFFERENT EXECUTION PRIORITY LEVELS - One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for dynamically scheduling and managing compute tasks with different execution priority levels. The scheduling circuitry organizes the compute tasks into groups based on priority levels. The compute tasks may then be selected for execution using different scheduling schemes, such as round-robin, priority, and partitioned priority. Each group is maintained as a linked list of pointers to compute tasks that are encoded as queue metadata (QMD) stored in memory. A QMD encapsulates the state needed to execute a compute task. When a task is selected for execution by the scheduling circuitry, the QMD is removed for a group and transferred to a table of active compute tasks. Compute tasks are then selected from the active task table for execution by a streaming multiprocessor.03-21-2013
20130117751COMPUTE TASK STATE ENCAPSULATION - One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for encapsulating compute task state that enables out-of-order scheduling and execution of the compute tasks. The scheduling circuitry organizes the compute tasks into groups based on priority levels. The compute tasks may then be selected for execution using different scheduling schemes. Each group is maintained as a linked list of pointers to compute tasks that are encoded as task metadata (TMD) stored in memory. A TMD encapsulates the state and parameters needed to initialize, schedule, and execute a compute task.05-09-2013
20130117758COMPUTE WORK DISTRIBUTION REFERENCE COUNTERS - One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for managing the allocation and release of resources during multi-threaded program execution. Programmable reference counters are initialized to values that limit the amount of resources for allocation to tasks that share the same reference counter. Resource parameters are specified for each task to define the amount of resources allocated for consumption by each array of execution threads that is launched to execute the task. The resource parameters also specify the behavior of the array for acquiring and releasing resources. Finally, during execution of each thread in the array, an exit instruction may be configured to override the release of the resources that were allocated to the array. The resources may then be retained for use by a child task that is generated during execution of a thread.05-09-2013
20130117760Software-Assisted Instruction Level Execution Preemption - One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for instruction level execution preemption. Preempting at the instruction level does not require any draining of the processing pipeline. No new instructions are issued and the context state is unloaded from the processing pipeline. Any in-flight instructions that follow the preemption command in the processing pipeline are captured and stored in a processing task buffer to be reissued when the preempted program is resumed. The processing task buffer is designated as a high priority task to ensure the preempted instructions are reissued before any new instructions for the preempted context when execution of the preempted context is restored.05-09-2013

20130124838INSTRUCTION LEVEL EXECUTION PREEMPTION - One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique instruction level and compute thread array granularity execution preemption. Preempting at the instruction level does not require any draining of the processing pipeline. No new instructions are issued and the context state is unloaded from the processing pipeline. When preemption is performed at a compute thread array boundary, the amount of context state to be stored is reduced because execution units within the processing pipeline complete execution of in-flight instructions and become idle. If, the amount of time needed to complete execution of the in-flight instructions exceeds a threshold, then the preemption may dynamically change to be performed at the instruction level instead of at compute thread array granularity.05-16-2013
20130132711COMPUTE THREAD ARRAY GRANULARITY EXECUTION PREEMPTION - One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique instruction level and compute thread array granularity execution preemption. 20130152093Multi-Channel Time Slice Groups - A time slice group (TSG) is a grouping of different streams of work (referred to herein as “channels”) that share the same context information. The set of channels belonging to a TSG are processed in a pre-determined order. However, when a channel stalls while processing, the next channel with independent work can be switched to fully load the parallel processing unit. Importantly, because each channel in the TSG shares the same context information, a context switch operation is not needed when the processing of a particular channel in the TSG stops and the processing of a next channel in the TSG begins. Therefore, multiple independent streams of work are allowed to run concurrently within a single context increasing utilization of parallel processing units.06-13-2013
20130160021SIGNALING, ORDERING, AND EXECUTION OF DYNAMICALLY GENERATED TASKS IN A PROCESSING SYSTEM - One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for enabling the insertion of generated tasks into a scheduling pipeline of a multiple processor system allows a compute task that is being executed to dynamically generate a dynamic task and notify a scheduling unit of the multiple processor system without intervention by a CPU. A reflected notification signal is generated in response to a write request when data for the dynamic task is written to a queue. Additional reflected notification signals are generated for other events that occur during execution of a compute task, e.g., to invalidate cache entries storing data for the compute task and to enable scheduling of another compute task.06-20-2013
20130185725SCHEDULING AND EXECUTION OF COMPUTE TASKS - One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for selecting a first processor included in a plurality of processors to receive work related to a compute task. The technique involves analyzing state data of each processor in the plurality of processors to identify one or more processors that have already been assigned one compute task and are eligible to receive work related to the one compute task, receiving, from each of the one or more processors identified as eligible, an availability value that indicates the capacity of the processor to receive new work, selecting a first processor to receive work related to the one compute task based on the availability values received from the one or more processors, and issuing, to the first processor via a cooperative thread array (CTA), the work related to the one compute task.07-18-2013
20130185728SCHEDULING AND EXECUTION OF COMPUTE TASKS - One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for assigning a compute task to a first processor included in a plurality of processors. The technique involves analyzing each compute task in a plurality of compute tasks to identify one or more compute tasks that are eligible for assignment to the first processor, where each compute task is listed in a first table and is associated with a priority value and an allocation order that indicates relative time at which the compute task was added to the first table. The technique further involves selecting a first task compute from the identified one or more compute tasks based on at least one of the priority value and the allocation order, and assigning the first compute task to the first processor for execution.07-18-2013
20130198759CONTROLLING WORK DISTRIBUTION FOR PROCESSING TASKS - A technique for controlling the distribution of compute task processing in a multi-threaded system encodes each processing task as task metadata (TMD) stored in memory. The TMD includes work distribution parameters specifying how the processing task should be distributed for processing. Scheduling circuitry selects a task for execution when entries of a work queue for the task have been written. The work distribution parameters may define a number of work queue entries needed before a cooperative thread array” (“CTA”) may be launched to process the work queue entries according to the compute task. The work distribution parameters may define a number of CTAS that are launched to process the same work queue entries. Finally, the work distribution parameters may define a step size that is used to update pointers to the work queue entries.08-01-2013
20130198760AUTOMATIC DEPENDENT TASK LAUNCH - One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for automatic launching of a dependent task when execution of a first task completes. Automatically launching the dependent task reduces the latency incurred during the transition from the first task to the dependent task. Information associated with the dependent task is encoded as part of the metadata for the first task. When execution of the first task completes a task scheduling unit is notified and the dependent task is launched without requiring any release or acquisition of a semaphore. The information associated with the dependent task includes an enable flag and a pointer to the dependent task. Once the dependent task is launched, the first task is marked as complete so that memory storing the metadata for the first task may be reused to store metadata for a new task.08-01-2013
20130298133TECHNIQUE FOR COMPUTATIONAL NESTED PARALLELISM - One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for performing nested kernel execution within a parallel processing subsystem. The technique involves enabling a parent thread to launch a nested child grid on the parallel processing subsystem, and enabling the parent thread to perform a thread synchronization barrier on the child grid for proper execution semantics between the parent thread and the child grid. This technique advantageously enables the parallel processing subsystem to perform a richer set of programming constructs, such as conditionally executed and nested operations and externally defined library functions without the additional complexity of CPU involvement.11-07-2013
20140165072TECHNIQUE FOR SAVING AND RESTORING THREAD GROUP OPERATING STATE - A streaming multiprocessor (SM) included within a parallel processing unit (PPU) is configured to suspend a thread group executing on the SM and to save the operating state of the suspended thread group. A load-store unit (LSU) within the SM re-maps local memory associated with the thread group to a location in global memory. Subsequently, the SM may re-launch the suspended thread group. The LSU may then perform local memory access operations on behalf of the re-launched thread group with the re-mapped local memory that resides in global memory.06-12-2014
20140168245TECHNIQUE FOR PERFORMING MEMORY ACCESS OPERATIONS VIA TEXTURE HARDWARE - A texture processing pipeline can be configured to service memory access requests that represent texture data access operations or generic data access operations. When the texture processing pipeline receives a memory access request that represents a texture data access operation, the texture processing pipeline may retrieve texture data based on texture coordinates. When the memory access request represents a generic data access operation, the texture pipeline extracts a virtual address from the memory access request and then retrieves data based on the virtual address. The texture processing pipeline is also configured to cache generic data retrieved on behalf of a group of threads and to then invalidate that generic data when the group of threads exits.06-19-2014
20140173193TECHNIQUE FOR ACCESSING CONTENT-ADDRESSABLE MEMORY - A tag unit configured to manage a cache unit includes a coalescer that implements a set hashing function. The set hashing function maps a virtual address to a particular content-addressable memory unit (CAM). The coalescer implements the set hashing function by splitting the virtual address into upper, middle, and lower portions. The upper portion is further divided into even-indexed bits and odd-indexed bits. The even-indexed bits are reduced to a single bit using a XOR tree, and the odd-indexed are reduced in like fashion. Those single bits are combined with the middle portion of the virtual address to provide a CAM number that identifies a particular CAM. The identified CAM is queried to determine the presence of a tag portion of the virtual address, indicating a cache hit or cache miss.06-19-2014
20140173258TECHNIQUE FOR PERFORMING MEMORY ACCESS OPERATIONS VIA TEXTURE HARDWARE - A texture processing pipeline can be configured to service memory access requests that represent texture data access operations or generic data access operations.
20140189260APPROACH FOR CONTEXT SWITCHING OF LOCK-BIT PROTECTED MEMORY - A streaming multiprocessor in a parallel processing subsystem processes atomic operations for multiple threads in a multi-threaded architecture. The streaming multiprocessor receives a request from a thread in a thread group to acquire access to a memory location in a lock-protected shared memory, and determines whether a address lock in a plurality of address locks is asserted, where the address lock is associated the memory location. If the address lock is asserted, then the streaming multiprocessor refuses the request. Otherwise, the streaming multiprocessor asserts the address lock, asserts a thread group lock in a plurality of thread group locks, where the thread group lock is associated with the thread group, and grants the request. One advantage of the disclosed techniques is that acquired locks are released when a thread is preempted. As a result, a preempted thread that has previously acquired a lock does not retain the lock indefinitely.07-03-2014
20140189329COOPERATIVE THREAD ARRAY GRANULARITY CONTEXT SWITCH DURING TRAP HANDLING - Techniques are provided for handling a trap encountered in a thread that is part of a thread array that is being executed in a plurality of execution units. In these techniques, a data structure with an identifier associated with the thread is updated to indicate that the trap occurred during the execution of the thread array. Also in these techniques, the execution units execute a trap handling routine that includes a context switch. The execution units perform this context switch for at least one of the execution units as part of the trap handling routine while allowing the remaining execution units to exit the trap handling routine before the context switch. One advantage of the disclosed techniques is that the trap handling routine operates efficiently in parallel processors.07-03-2014
20140189711COOPERATIVE THREAD ARRAY GRANULARITY CONTEXT SWITCH DURING TRAP HANDLING - Techniques are provided for restoring thread groups in a cooperative thread array (CTA) within a processing core. Each thread group in the CTA is launched to execute a context restore routine. Each thread group, executes the context restore routine to restore from a memory a first portion of context associated with the thread group, and determines whether the thread group completed an assigned function prior to executing the context restore routine. If the thread group completed an assigned function prior to executing the context restore routine, then the thread group exits the context restore routine. If the thread group did not complete the assigned function prior to executing the context restore routine, then the thread group executes one or more operations associated with a trap handler routine. One advantage of the disclosed techniques is that the trap handling routine operates efficiently in parallel processors.07-03-2014

20130086529AUTOMATIC LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT FOR PAGES ON A MOBILE APPLICATION - User interface state (UI) information (such as UI control values) are stored and revived when the user navigates and returns to an application. When an instance of a page is created, the page registers with a tombstone list and indicates which page state information on the page is to be stored and revived when a user navigates away from the application. When the user provides an input indicating navigation away from the application, the application accesses the tombstone list and stores the UI page state information. UI page state information is stored in a page state dictionary data structure that corresponds to the current instance of the page. Then, when the user navigates back to the application, the application accesses the page state dictionary and restores the values of the UI page state information so that the user interface display is in the same state as when the user navigated away from the application.04-04-2013

20130021181NON-BINARY SUCCESSIVE APPROXIMATION ANALOG TO DIGITAL CONVERTER - A successive approximation analog to digital converter (SA-ADC) employs a binary-weighted digital to analog converter (DAC) to perform a non-binary search in determining a digital representation of a sample of an analog signal. In an embodiment, a subset of iterations needed to convert an analog sample to a digital value is performed using non-binary search with a radix of conversion less than two. As a result, search windows in iterations corresponding to the non-binary search overlap, and correction of errors due to a comparator used in the SA-ADC is rendered possible. Error correction being possible due to the non-binary search, the comparator is operated in a low-bandwidth, and hence low-power, mode during the non-binary search. The non-binary search in combination with the binary-weighted architecture of the DAC offer several benefits such as for example, less-complex implementation, shorter conversion time, easier and compact layout and lower power consumption.01-24-2013
