20130023663 | SUBSTITUTED STILBENES AND THEIR REACTIONS - The present invention relates to stilbene and quinine compounds related to combretastatin A-4 and their use as anticancer compounds and prodrugs. The compounds include those with an alkyl group on the double bond of cis- or trans-stilbenes, compounds with one or more (and preferably 2 or 3) alkyl group substituents on the stilbene A ring, compounds with an alkoxy group other than methoxy at position 3, 4, and/or 5 of the stilbene A ring, compounds (or prodrugs) in which BBOC amino acid esters are formed with the phenolic hydroxyl at the 3 -position of the B ring and compounds (or prodrugs) based on a benzoquinone B ring. The present invention further relates to the photochemical reactions of stilbene compounds, either the above compounds disclosed for the first time herein or compounds based on prior stilbenes. These reactions include the photochemical release of an active form of the compound from a prodrug conjugate and the photochemical isomerization of the compounds, especially from a trans to cis form of compounds. The reactions can be used alone or in combination to convert inactive or comparatively less active forms of the compounds to more active forms, thereby allowing the compounds to be selectively targeted, e.g., activating them at the site of a tumour. | 01-24-2013 |

20120299927 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DISPLAYING PARAMETER INDEPENDENCE IN A DATA ANALYSIS SYSTEM - A system for performing a data analysis is provided. The system includes a curve fit module that determines a curve fit function for a data set. A parameter dependence determination module determines a dependence value for a parameter of the curve fit function. A parameter independence determination module determines an independence value for the parameter of the curve fit function based on the dependence value for the parameter. A graphical indicator generation module generates a graphical indicator for the parameter. The graphical indicator corresponds to the independence value for the parameter. | 11-29-2012 |

20110059825 | EXERCISE EQUIPMENT USAGE MONITORING METHOD AND APPARATUS - A method of monitoring the use of exercise equipment at an exercise facility having a plurality of items of exercise equipment, the method comprising the steps of: providing a plurality of usage monitors, each associated with an item of exercise equipment, monitoring the usage of the said plurality of items of exercise equipment concurrently using the said usage monitors, and thereby calculating, for at least some of the items of exercise equipment, a measure of the proportion of the period of time during which respective items of exercise equipment are used. In some embodiments, the usage monitors can detect when an item of exercise equipment is occupied, even if it is not being operated, for example using a heat sensor. A graphical representation may be prepared of the usage of items of exercise equipment at each of a plurality of locations within the exercise facility. | 03-10-2011 |
