20090086644 | DETECTING DATA PLANE LIVELINESS OF A LABEL-SWITCHED PATH - Detecting if a label-switched path (LSP) is functioning properly. To test that packets that belong to a particular Forwarding Equivalence Class (FEC) actually end their MPLS LSP on an label switching router (LSR) that is an egress for that FEC, a request message carrying information about the FEC whose LSP is being verified may be used. The request message may be forwarded like any other packet belonging to that FEC. A basic connectivity test as well as a fault isolation test are supported. In a basic connectivity test mode, the packet should reach the end of the LSP, at which point it is sent to the control plane of the egress LSR. The LSR then verifies that it is indeed an egress for the FEC. In a fault isolation test mode, the packet is sent to the control plane of each transit LSR, which performs various checks that it is indeed a transit LSR for the LSP. The transit LSR may also return further information that helps check the control plane against the data plane, i.e., that forwarding matches what the routing protocols determined as the path. A reliable return path is used for the reply. | 04-02-2009 |

20110128968 | GRACEFUL RESTART FOR USE IN NODES EMPLOYING LABEL SWITCHED PATH SIGNALING PROTOCOLS - When a node has to restart its control component, or a (e.g., label-switched path signaling) part of its control component, if that node can preserve its forwarding information across the restart, the effects of such restarts on label switched path(s) include the restarting node are minimized. A node's ability to preserve forwarding information across a control component (part) restart is advertised. In the event of a restart, stale forwarding information can be used for a limited time before. The restarting node can use its forwarding information, as well as received label-path advertisements, to determine which of its labels should be associated with the path, for advertisement to its peers. | 06-02-2011 |
20120020205 | PROTECTING CONNECTION TRAFFIC USING FILTERS - A connection between network nodes in a communication network is backed up. A failover switched path such as a label-switched path (LSP) is created starting at a first network node of a connection and ending at the second node of the connection, while bypassing the protected connection. In the event of connection failure, data is transmitted through the failover switched path (e.g., LSP). A network operator can selectively protect different types of data by using filters that bind one or more types of traffic received over one or more interfaces to different failover switched paths (LSPs). | 01-26-2012 |

20140031994 | Lock-setting Thermostat with Flash-memory Key - Property-management or lock-setting thermostats have maximum and minimum set points locked in to prevent abuse of management-provided heating and/or air conditioning. An ePROM or similar internal memory device stores heating and cooling limit parameters that are set in by a technician at the time of installation. A plug-in flash memory module contains an unlock code to match the unlock code stored in said ePROM, to unlock the thermostat and allow the settings to be adjusted; when said flash memory module is removed the thermostat reverts to its lock condition. The thermostat can also respond to unusual rates of change of temperature to block furnace or A/C operation temporarily. | 01-30-2014 |
20150159887 | Furnace Control with Safety Circuit and Non-volatile Memory - A furnace controller circuit includes a microprocessor with input ports and output ports including ports to issue control signals for actuation of inducer, gas burner, and furnace blower. A temperature-actuated limit switch commences a furnace shut-down sequence when the temperature of the furnace heat exchanger exceeds a predetermined limit temperature, and then resets to permit a turn-on sequence. An LED visible fault indicator is coupled to the microprocessor to provide visible fault messages. A non-volatile memory device coupled with the microprocessor is operative to store fault indications when present. In the event of power restoration after power failure, the limit switch status and other fault status are maintained. A lockout period is computed based on length of furnace run time until fault and recent fault history. Limit switch and other safety faults are recorded and these can be weighted and ranked based on age of each fault occurrence. The stored fault data can be used to identify erratic furnace operations, such as short cycling. | 06-11-2015 |
20150160691 | CONTROLLER WITH DYNAMICALLY INDICATED INPUT DEVICES - A user interface of a controller has multiple touch-sensitive input transducers, e.g., capacitive pads. The pads are dynamically indicated: When any given touch sensitive input device is needed for input at a given step of the programming operation, an associated light source illuminates that input device so it is visible to the user. Those touch-panel input devices not needed for that are left unilluminated, and the microprocessor ignores any input from those input devices. At each step of the operation or programming of the controller, only those input transducers for the inputs that are permitted or relevant to that state are indicated. Correspondingly, only the inputs that are generated by actuating the input transducers for the valid (i.e., permitted or relevant) inputs results in a change in the state of the program in the microprocessor. | 06-11-2015 |
20150370269 | DC Thermostat with Low Battery Response - A battery powered thermostat senses a battery voltage drop to a low-battery voltage level. At that point, the thermostat microprocessor provides a LOW BATTERY alert message, visible on the thermostat display. If the occupant fails to replace the power cells or does not notice the LOW BATTERY message, when the battery voltage drops further the microprocessor alters the thermostat set points. This reduces the number of heating or cooling cycles per day, and reduces the number of actuations of the latching relays in the thermostat, conserving remaining battery life. At a further drop in battery voltage the set points are changed additionally. Additional functions, such as second level heat, second level cooling, and fan speed, are disabled. The change in heat or cooling cycles induces the occupant to check the thermostat where he or she will notice the LOW BATTERY message. | 12-24-2015 |
20150370270 | DC Thermostat with Latching Relay Repulsing - A thermostat, of the type that employs latching relays to connect thermostat power to the various wires of the thermostat run, has a re-pulse feature that supplies latching pulses at a given interval, e.g., three hours, to ensure that the relays are in their proper state agreeing with the thermostat mode and the room temperature relative to the setpoint(s). In the case that the room air temperature is changing in a manner contrary to the current heating or cooling mode, which may indicate the latching relay has been knocked or bumped and needs to have its proper state re-established, the thermostat microprocessor issues pulses to the latching relay(s) more frequently, e.g., each 30 minutes, and the re-pulses may have a longer pulse width, e.g., increased from 20 ms to 25 ms. | 12-24-2015 |
