20100249451 | PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF SUBSTITUTED BENZILIC ACID FROM SUBSTITUTED BENZILS - The classical process for the rearrangement of substituted benzil to benzilic acid is performed in the presence of sodium or potassium hydroxide as a base using ethanol-ether as a medium. The reaction requires reflux temperature for complete conversion. However, these bases containing metallic ions and generate metallic containing effluent waste which may require additional expenditure for treatment. Moreover, because of corrosive nature of base, and use of flammable solvent, the safety measures are needed during large scale production. Another method also reported for benzilic acid rearrangement at 380° C. which is practically not feasible. The present invention describes the use of quaternary ammonium hydroxides as a base for the rearrangement of the substituted benzils to benzilc acids. It also avoids the use of solvent and reaction can be carried out at relatively lower temperatures. Because of the solvent free reaction condition it reduces the mass/volume of reaction mixture. | 09-30-2010 |

20110159538 | Process for Preparation of Insulin Compounds - The present invention relates to the preparation of insulin compounds including their analogs or derivatives thereof from their corresponding precursor forms by a one step enzymatic reaction involving the combinatorial and concurrent use of optimal quantities of trypsin and carboxypeptidase B that work synergistically directing the reaction in a controlled manner to avoid production of random undesired byproducts. Particularly, the enzymatic conversion reactions of the instant invention offer advantages of reduction in the number operational steps, higher yield and purity of the desired end products. | 06-30-2011 |

20110125701 | System and Method of Using Multi Pattern Viterbi Algorithm for Joint Decoding of Multiple Patterns - Systems, devices, and methods for using Multi-Pattern Viterbi Algorithm for joint decoding of multiple patterns are disclosed. An exemplary method may receive a plurality of sets of time-sequential signal observations for each of a number K of signal repetitions. Further, each set of signal observations is associated with a respective dimension of a K-dimensional time grid having time-indexed points. Moreover, at each of a plurality of the time-indexed points, a state cost metric is calculated with a processor for each state in a set of states of a hidden Markov model (HMM). In addition, each state in the set of states and for a given time-indexed point, the state cost metric calculation provides a most-likely predecessor state and a corresponding most-likely predecessor time-indexed point. The exemplary method may also determine a sequence of states using the calculated state cost metrics and determine a corresponding cumulative probability measure for the HMM. | 05-26-2011 |
20120215529 | Speech Enhancement - A method for processing and iteratively enhancing and estimating a source audio signal received at two audio receivers is provided. In one embodiment, the method involves the use of codebook constrained iterative binaural Wiener filter (CCIBWF). The provided CCIBWF embodiment can improve the quality of speech received at two audio receivers both in terms of noise reduction and speech intelligibility. In one embodiment, optimum speech enhancement performance was achieved within two iterations of the CCIBWF scheme. Further, the embodiment of the CCIBWF scheme introduces minimal distortion to the binaural cues, such as the interaural time delay cues, thereby preserving localization information of the audio source. The embodiment of the CCIBWF is also able to relatively accurately track the Time Delay of Arrival (TDOA) when the audio source is moving. This ensures that the performance of the CCIBWF scheme is not significantly degraded due to the selection of wrong codebooks. | 08-23-2012 |
