20090074305 | METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR FUZZY CLUSTERING OF IMAGES - An approach to clustering a set of images based on similarity measures employs a fuzzy clustering paradigm in which each image is represented by a node in a graph. The graph is ultimately partitioned into subgraphs, each of which represent true clusters among which the various images are distributed. The partitioning is performed in a series of stages by identifying one true cluster at each stage, and removing the nodes belonging to each identified true cluster from further consideration so that the remaining, unclustered nodes may then be grouped. At the beginning of each such stage, the nodes that remain to be clustered are treated as all belonging to a single candidate cluster. Nodes are removed from this single candidate cluster in accordance with similarity and connectivity criteria, to arrive at a true cluster. The member nodes of this true cluster are then removed from further consideration, prior to the next stage in the process. | 03-19-2009 |
20090209212 | Method and Apparatus for an Adaptive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) Wireless Communications Systems - An adaptive MIMO communications system includes a multifunctional reconfigurable antenna with a selectively alterable effective physical antenna array configuration and radiation/polarization properties, which configuration and properties is a component in the optimization of the adaptive system parameters. The multifunctional reconfigurable antenna comprises a plurality of antenna components and a plurality of selectively controllable switches coupling selected ones of the plurality of antenna components together into a multifunctional reconfigurable subarray of antenna components. A processing unit coupled to the multifunctional reconfigurable antenna determines communication channel conditions for generating adaptive control signals to the plurality of selectively controllable switches to selectively apply a selected space-time coding protocol or a selected beam forming protocol together on the plurality of antenna components depending on channel conditions. | 08-20-2009 |

20110261709 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE USE OF MULTIPLE-INPUT, MUTLIPLE OUTPUT (MIMO) SYSTEMS FOR MULTI-PACKET RECEPTION (MPR) - A method for multipacket communication in an asynchronous wireless system includes the steps of transmitting at least two packets of 2M digital signals from a plurality of transmitters without other transmission taking place within a predetermined number of symbol durations from each side of each packet. Each transmitter generates digital signals denoted as at least two super-symbols according to an Alamouti coding scheme corresponding to M symbols of first set of super-symbols in a first transmission interval and a second set of super-symbols in a second transmission interval. The received packets include inter-symbol interference of the super-symbols when imperfectly synchronized which expands the time interval of the received packets. A symmetric Alamouti structure for the received packets is generated by folding the expanded received signal on itself, multiplying by a factor of −1, and decoding using the Alamouti structure for the received packets at each antenna of the receiver. | 10-27-2011 |
20120026989 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE USE OF MULTIPLE-INPUT, MUTLIPLE OUTPUT (MIMO) SYSTEMS FOR MULTI-PACKET RECEPTION (MPR) IN A DISTRIBUTED TIME SLOT ASSIGNMENT PROTOCOL - A method of multiple packet reception (MPR) using distributed time slot assignment (TDSA) in a multi-user network where receivers can detect two packets at the same time includes the steps of requesting information on slot assignment in a contention area, setting a frame length and acquiring a the slot assignment, selecting the assigned slot, and announcing and confirming information about the frame length and the assigned slot. The step of requesting information on slot assignment, setting a frame length and acquiring a slot assignment, and selecting the assigned slot are performed in a network where receivers can detect two packets at the same time, where time slots are assigned to nodes instead of links, where one-hop neighbors are assigned to different time slots since they may form a link together, while sharing one time slot with one of the two-hop neighbors in a non-interfering assignment. | 02-02-2012 |
20120114056 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INTERFERENCE CANCELLATION AND DETECTION USING PRECODERS - A method to achieve full diversity without sacrificing bandwidth and with a linear complexity in a wireless system includes the steps of orthogonally transmitting a plurality of signals utilizing multiple antennas using a corresponding plurality of precoders in a plurality of time slots, which precoders are designed using the channel information to cancel interference among the plurality of signals while achieving a maximum possible diversity of NM with low complexity for at least two users each having N transmit antennas and one receiver with M receive antennas, separating the signals in the receiver using the orthogonality of the transmitted signals, and decoding the signals independently to provide full diversity to the at least two users. | 05-10-2012 |
20120114072 | SUCCESSIVE TRANSMIT BEAMFORMING METHODS FOR MULTIPLE-ANTENNA ORTHOGONAL FREQUENCY DIVISION MULTIPLEXING (OFDM) SYSTEMS - An improvement in a method of transmit beamforming between a transmitter and a receiver in an OFDM wireless system having a plurality of subcarriers for a time varying fading channel comprises performing successive beamforming for each of the plurality of subcarriers using less than complete knowledge of the previous fading blocks for the subcarriers by beamforming an adaptive codebook, C=(C | 05-10-2012 |
