20150381324 | CONTROL FOR BFD RETURN PATH - A method is implemented by a network device to establish a bidirectional forwarding detection (BFD) session with a defined return path to enable detection of data plane failures between an active node and a passive node in a network where a forward path and a reverse path between the active node and the passive node are not co-routed. The method includes receiving a label switched path (LSP) ping including a BFD discriminator type length value (TLV) of the active node and a return path TLV describing a return path to the active node. The BFD discriminator of the active node and a BFD discriminator of the passive node are associated with the BFD session. The return path is associated with the BFD session between the active node and the passive node, and BFD control packets are sent to the active node using the return path to detect a failure on the return path. | 12-31-2015 |
20160036695 | Self-bootstrapping BFD session over MPLS LSP - A method is implemented by a network device in a network implementing penultimate hop popping (PHP) for Internet Protocol (IP)/Multi-Protocol Label Swapping (MPLS). The network has a plurality of nodes. The method establishes a bi-directional forwarding detection (BFD) session between an active node and a passive node of an MPLS label switched path (LSP) without an out of band bootstrapping process. In this method the network device is the passive node. The passive node generates a My Discriminator for the passive node, where the Your Discriminator is empty and the source label and My Discriminator are known to the passive node. The passive node sends further BFD control packets to the active node that include the generated My discriminator for the passive node. | 02-04-2016 |

20090297333 | Enhanced Turbocompressor Startup - A control method and apparatus for startup of turbocompressors to avoid overpowering a driver of the turbocompressor. In a first embodiment, the control system monitors input signals from transmitters of various control inputs. When the input signals exceed threshold values, the control system begins to close the antisurge valve. In a second embodiment, the antisurge valve begins to close after a predetermined time measured from the time startup is initiated. In both embodiments, the antisurge valve continues to ramp closed until the compressor has reached its operating zone, or until the compressor's operating point reaches a surge control line, at which point the antisurge valve is manipulated to keep the compressor from surging. | 12-03-2009 |
20090317260 | Compressor-Driver Power Limiting in Consideration of Antisurge Control - A control method and apparatus for simultaneously protecting a compression system from driver overpowering and turbocompressor surge. When overpowering is detected, flow rate through the each compressor in the turbocompressor train is reduced by closing an inlet throttling valve at the inlet of each respective compressor stage unless a compressor operating point is sufficiently near surge. In this latter case, the inlet throttling valve is not closed. In this way, overall flow rate through the compressor train is reduced while maintaining adequate flow through compromised stages to avoid surge. | 12-24-2009 |
