20120159637 | FUNCTIONALITY FOR PROVIDING DE-IDENTIFIED DATA - A de-identification system is described herein for converting original messages into de-identified messages. The de-identification system leverages original message-inception-functionality which operates as a gateway for providing original messages for use by a production environment. 20090133410 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INCREASED COOLING RATES IN RAPID COOLING OF SMALL BIOLOGICAL SAMPLES - A method and devices for rapid cooling of small biological samples by plunging them in a cryogenic liquid, such as liquid nitrogen, or contacting them with a cryogenic metal surface, reduce or eliminate the cold gas layer that forms above the liquid cryogens or cryogenic surfaces, producing an abrupt transition from ambient (e.g., room) temperature to the cryogen temperature as the sample enters the liquid or contacts the surface. To reduce or eliminate the effects of the cold gas layer, a flow of warm dry gas can be directed along the plunge path, for example. By removing this cold gas layer, cooling times for a 10 micron sample (the size of single cells and the smallest protein crystals now used protein crystallography) will decrease to ˜0.001 s. | 05-28-2009 |
20100132483 | MICROFABRICATED TOOLS FOR MANIPULATION OF SMALL SAMPLES - Microfabricated tools useful for manipulating small, delicate samples are formed from thin plastic films. The films have a small thickness (preferably 5 to 50 micrometers and typically 10 micrometers) and small lateral dimensions (preferably 2 mm or less and typically 0.1 to 1 mm) so that they are reasonably flexible, but are preferably curved by being wrapped around a cylindrical or flat post to give them some rigidity. The softness and thinness of the plastic reduce risk of sample damage during incidental contact with the tool. Its thinness makes it optically and X-ray transparent, so that the samples can be clearly visualized during manipulations and so that the tools can be used to collect X-ray data from samples. As an option, an X-ray sensitive phosphor is incorporated in the film at low concentration. This allows the X-ray beam to be visually located on the mount or tool. The plastic can also be treated to obtain a desired hydrophobicity or hydrophilicity, mechanically embossed or abraded, or coated with films (for example, of polyethylene glycol via pegylation procedures or of PDMS) that promote or inhibit sample adhesion. | 06-03-2010 |

20150253785 | High Pressure Valve Assembly - A valve assembly for high pressure applications includes a pre-charge chamber, at least one inlet for pressurized gas to enter the assembly, a system poppet and an outlet for releasing pressurized gas into a desired environment. Pressurized gas can flow through access channels into a single bellows, which expands to move a shaft connected to the system poppet to open the poppet. In another embodiment, the pre-charge chamber compresses a first bellows to expand a second bellows, and vice versa upon reciprocation. The two bellows are hydraulically connected and filled with incompressible fluid. Each bellows has an internal limiting valve to retain incompressible fluid therewithin, and to preclude the complete nesting of either of the bellows. The retained fluid within the bellows maintains an internal pressure to minimize differential pressure, thereby minimizing the risk of bellows failure. | 09-10-2015 |
20150253786 | HIGH PRESSURE VALVE ASSEMBLY - A valve assembly for high pressure applications includes a pre-charge chamber in fluid communication with a first bellows, at least one inlet for pressurized gas to enter the assembly, a system poppet and an outlet for releasing pressurized gas into a desired environment. The pre-charge chamber and first bellows are filled with pre-charge gas to a threshold pressure. Pressurized gas can flow through access channels into a second bellows, which expands to move a valve shaft connected to the poppet assembly to open the poppet and allow the release of gas. The expansion of the second bellows pushes incompressible fluid disposed between the two bellows against the first bellows, thus contracting the first bellows. The gas within each bellows maintains an internal pressure equal to the pressure exerted upon each bellows by the incompressible fluid, so as to minimize differential pressure across the bellows in the extended position. | 09-10-2015 |

20110309491 | TUNGSTEN STIFFENER FOR FLEXIBLE SUBSTRATE ASSEMBLY - A flexible semiconductor package is formed by interposing a flexible substrate between a tungsten stiffener and a die. A tungsten stiffener is bonded to a first surface of the flexible substrate prior to flip chip bonding or die attach of a die to a second surface of the flexible substrate. The tungsten stiffener is dimensioned so as to substantially overlap the die and provide a rigid and flat surface on which the die/flexible substrate bonding occurs. The flat and rigid characteristic of a tungsten stiffener optimizes the electrical and mechanical bond between the die and the flexible substrate as well as minimizing CTE mismatch. | 12-22-2011 |

20110226279 | Unified Floss and Guide Device for Persons Wearing Orthodontic Braces - The present invention is a device and manufacturing method to be used by persons wearing orthodontic braces to simplify the task of flossing their teeth. The device consists of a convenient pre-cut length of dental floss with a first and second end, an elongated guide element fabricated from a semi-rigid material suitable for oral use and configured with an attachment aperture, an optional flex aperture, and optional curvature, and further consisting of pre-attachment of the floss first end to the guide element leaving the second end of the floss unencumbered. Preferentially, the means of pre-attachment is accomplished with a friction knot formed by first inserting a looped length of floss through the guide attachment aperture then folding the tip of the guide element through the loop and retracting the slack in the floss until it gathers tightly and securely around the trailing end of the guide element. This attachment method advantageously can be accomplished without employing the time consuming method of tying a conventional knot. The invention further includes sanitary enclosure in an envelope, preferentially the size of a credit card, for convenient transport in a wallet or purse. | 09-22-2011 |

20110160146 | Conjungation of Small Molecules to Octaarginine Transporters for Overcoming Multi-Drug Resistance - Many cancer therapeutic agents elicit resistance that renders them ineffective and often produces cross resistance to other drugs. One of the most common mechanisms of resistance involves P-glycoprotein (Pgp) mediated drug efflux. Here we provide compositions and methods that restore the efficacy of a therapeutic agent reduced by resistance by conjugation of the same agent to an oligoarginine transporter comprising from about 5 to about 25 guanidino or amidino moieties. We specifically show that the widely used chemotherapeutic agent taxol, ineffective against taxol-resistant human ovarian cancer cell lines, can be incorporated into an octaarginine conjugate that is effective against the same taxol-resistant cell lines. Significantly, the ability of the taxol conjugates to overcome taxol resistance is observed both in cell culture and in animal models of ovarian cancer. The generality and mechanistic basis for this effect were also explored with other Pgp substrate. This approach shows generality for overcoming the multidrug resistance elicited by small molecule cancer chemotherapeutics and could improve the prognosis for many cancer patients and fundamentally alter search strategies for novel therapeutic agents effective against resistant disease. | 06-30-2011 |

20120199640 | TUCK TAB CLOSURE - A recloseable closure for a container such as secondary packaging. The recloseable closure has a tuck tab to be tucked into a tuck slit to maintain the closure in a closed configuration to maintain articles within the secondary packaging. The tuck tab has a unique configuration, and the tuck slit has a protrusion that also has a unique configuration and which is positioned to cover the tuck tab when the tuck tab is tucked in the tuck slit. The tuck tab may be shaped to conform to the shape of the contents of the container, and/or may have a graphic element printed thereon, illustrating the contents of the container. The tuck slit protrusion may be configured to conform to the shape of the tuck tab and to bear the same graphic element as on the tuck tab. Thus, when the tuck tab is tucked into the slit, the tuck slit protrusion covers the tuck tab while still displaying substantially the same graphic element displayed by the tuck flap. | 08-09-2012 |
